To kick start the discussions, I am posting a question that was asked during the YPS Macro Photo Talk held on June 4th. What type of equipment is required for Macro Photography. The answer provided was:

    A. An SLR Camera
    B. Suitable Optics which could be any of the following:
    (1) A Lens with a magnification of 1x or 2x
    (2) A Normal Lens + Macro Filter
    (3) A Normal Lens + Extension Tubes
    (4) A prime lens with Lens Reversal adapter
    C. A sturdy tripod that can go flat on the ground

Let us start the discussion with this. Anyone interested can add.

I remember that it was also told that remote triggering would be helpful in getting sharper images by avoiding by chance of slightest camera shake while clicking

Most importantly, the photographer should have the knowledge of how to approach the subject with caution and also distance one can go, it has to be done gradually step by step, also watch your steps, quick movements can disturb or scare away the subjects.

What about using Extension tubes along with a Macro lens? Or using the teleconverters with a Macro lens? Does it give better magnification or better clarity?
