SUMMARY:Life of Banaras - Colors of life of the ancient city in monochrome
DESCRIPTION:YPS Meet Live | S2 E16 | Sept 05\, Sun | 5:30 PM | Online\n‘The Life of Banaras’ – Manish Khattry says “It’s a humble attempt to capture and present the colors of life in monochrome. The more I wish to describe the mystics of Banaras\, the more I fall short of words. Then you know how most of your deepest experiences go unexpressed. Being a Photographer is a Blessing. It has given me a Tool to use to make people see the unseen. Each of my Pictures on Banaras and its vibrant life is a Story\, a Narrative.  \nThe Daily Life of Banaras is Unique in itself. The human activities seen here are typical of this place. All these provide immense subject for a photographer and has become a reason for an inflow of a huge number of photographers to come here and shoot. Banaras is one of the most picturized cities of the World. \nI have been clicking Banaras for the last 3 decades and till date\, it is almost a weekly ritual to move around with my Camera capturing with all the passion the various aspects of this fast changing city. When some people ask me what is it that I find so interesting in the lanes\, the Ghats\, the Ganges\, Fairs and festivals\, and the pandemic period also that I keep taking so many pictures (over 10 lakhs till date).  \nTo this I tell them that it is a Love affair between me and Banaras that doesn’t cease. Instead it is growing deeper with each passing day and every day I look at my city\, I find it to be as new as ever.” \n « ‹ of 6 › » \n \nTo join the session\n\nFaceBook:\n1. Manish Khattry has been contributing to society from the age of 16 when his cartoons found a regular place in a leading daily newspaper. Since then\, it has been a journey\, where he has devoted himself completely to the creative world comprising art\, literature\, music\, and culture. Having Introduced computers as a recognized medium of art for the first time in India in 1994\, he trained around 3000 students and got their works of Computer Painting exhibited in various art galleries including Lalit Kala Academy\, New Delhi. \nPhotography captured his interest for a reason: his desire to know and then show the beauty in the antiquity of Banaras to the World. The rich culture and heritage of this City has attracted him and inspired to click it for a decade. Today\, he has a collection of more than 10 lakh pictures of Varanasi portraying its various facets of architecture\, daily life\, fairs and festivals\, food and craft\, etc. The thought behind is also to preserve the ‘real’ contemporary Banaras through his lens and prints in this very fast-changing world. His pictures of this city\, primarily\, have gained him the honor of being one of the top-ranked Street Photographers of the World. \nNow on a serious mission of compiling and publishing these pictures\, they are a storyteller in their own way. In this series\,  ‘Varanasi – The Luminous City (2007)’\, ‘My World Through My Lens (2014)’ have already seen the light of the day and recently ‘The Book of Banaras (2015 & 2017)’ got unveiled by honourable Governor of  Uttar Pradesh\, India Shri Ram Naik and ‘The Life of Banaras :: Volume 1 – Black and White (2017)’ ‘Bhaj Vishwanatham – The first coffee table book of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple (Hindi – 2017)\, ‘The Life of Banaras :: Volume 2 – Color (2018)’\, ‘Sanskrit Bhagirathi (2018)’\, ‘Mysterious Banaras (2019)’\, ‘Kashi – Older than History by Times Group (2019)’\, ‘Magh Mela Prayagraj (2019)’\, ‘Bhaj Vishwanatham – Pictorial story of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple (English – 2019)\, ‘Banaras – Sacred Thread of Eternal Peace (2019)’\,  ‘Chaurasi Ghat – Banaras ke thath by Jagran Group (2020)’\, ‘Banaras – City Eternal (2020)’\, ‘Kashi – Fairs and Festivals / Lakkha Mela  (2020)’ and ‘Kashi Rahasya – Vol 01 of 08 (2021).  \nHe also promotes Banaras through his photographs and books all over the world. Recently he presented his black and white works as an exhibition of photographs titled ‘Life of Banaras’ at Indira Gandhi Centre for Indian Culture\, Mauritius; organised by High Commission of India\, Mauritius. He has been invited to present such shows in other countries also.   \nA Gold Medallist in Master of Fine Arts from the Banaras Hindu University\, he served the Department of Applied Arts\, BHU as a visiting faculty. As a part of a campaign ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ of the Prime Minister of India\, his name features as a contributor for photography in Guinness Book of World Records. \nYou can follow Manish here:\nIG:https://www.instagram.com/manish_khattry/\nFB: https://www.facebook.com/manish.khattry1/\nFlickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/107786968@N08/ \n\n-YPS Executive Committee

Later he became a member and got interested in photography. Later\, he got interested in teaching photography. With the help of Sathish\, Hebbar\, Rajaram\, Prakash\, Rajgopal and Asif he could conduct many programs and really enjoyed those years. \nMr G S Krishnamurthy\nHis passion for wildlife developed during his school days and interest in photography during his college days.  After joining a bank\, he became a member of Youth Photographic Society\, Bengaluru\, which is a premier photographic organization in India.  His passion for wildlife photography increased and after observing the Wildlife work of the senior photographers\, his interest further developed and he started Nature photography seriously.  He was making black and white prints himself.  He became a Life Member of Federation of Indian Photography in 1985 and with the guidance of the eminent Photographers like Dr.G.Thomas\, Mr.C.Rajagopal\, Mr.E.Hanumantha Rao\, Mr.T.N.A.Perumal  and others\, started participating  in National and International Salons and won many awards and certificates of merit and many pictures were exhibited.  He visited many sanctuaries in India\, South Africa\, Kenya and took photographs of wildlife.  He took a keen interest in promoting the Art of Photography.  He served as President of Youth Photographic Society for four years.  During his tenure as president\, he took interest in arranging lectures\, demonstrations\, slide shows\, workshops\, nature outings\, conducting National/International Salons etc.  He has given talks on Nature Photography\, slide shows\, exhibited nature pictures for the benefit of the members of the club.  His pictures and articles on wildlife have been  published in the Kannada magazines.  He has led nature outings of members to places like Bandipur\, Nagarahole\, Ranganathittu\, Kokkarebellur etc.  He was Chairman for two National Salons conducted by Youth Photographic Society.  He was a jury member for some of the National & International Salons in the Nature/Wildlife  sections.  He is a prolific salon exhibitor and frequently visits wildlife Sanctuaries and National Parks for nature Photography. He was selected to the YPS Executive Committee in 1981.  \nFortunately he was unanimously elected as President of YPS for 1990-91 and 1991- 92. A few important steps were taken by the new Team as follows:  \n a} As excellent support was received from Mr M S Hebbar and the new Team comprising of Messrs M Ananthraj\, H Satish\, S Chandrashekar\,  T S Srinivasa Rao and others\, a few time bound pre planned activities\, workshops\, talks\, slide shows  & regular weekly programmes were chalked out for the entire year ahead.   For the first time in the history of YPS\, an annual programme schedule was released on 23rd April 1990 by Sri S C Burman\, the then Director of Youth Services in the presence of Dr. G Thomas\, Secretary General FIP. That concept was followed in the following years for a few years.  \nb}. As done in organised sectors\, an authorised “vouched system” was implemented for every expense being incurred by committee members\, ensuring  financial discipline for balance sheet finalisation. \nc} Several basic workshops were planned in advance benefitting freshers. Pictorial photography got popularised greatly and resulted in significant achievements by members in Salons. \nd}  YPS got adequate publicity in the press and media thus popularising its name.  This also helped mobilise sponsors and advertisers for YPS Souvenirs etc. \nIn the years 1992\, 1993 and 2000\, he held the position as Salon Chairman. With the help of Treasurer T S Srinivasa Rao and past office bearer &  life member A S Prakash\, a high quality Digital Projector was bought as an asset for YPS out of Salon Souvenir advertisement money saved.  \nBecame Working Committee Member of FIP for the years 1993 and 1994.  On behalf of FIP\, in 1993\,  along with Mr M S Hebbar\, and in association with YPS\, Karnataka Lalith Kala Academy\, Focal Point\, Octopus and Shutter Bugs\, he organised a grand event at Mythic Society\, viz.\, ‘Comparative Exhibition of Photography & Painting as Fine Art’.  \nHe got his AFIAP distinction from FIAP in the year 2000 and Hon. SUMMARY:The Forgotten Trains of India
DESCRIPTION:YPS Meet Live | May 02\, Sun | 5:30 PM | Online\nRailways are the life-line of our country.  While the railways attempt to modernise stations\, some of the older lines with their laid back pace of life and quaint little railway stations that blend perfectly with the rural surroundings continue to provide important connections to remote communities.  This presentation shows you pictures that will kindle a memory from your childhood or just allow you to travel back in time \n \nTo join the session\n\nFaceBook:\n1. Although most of his commercial work is done on digital\, Nanda still shoots all his personal work on film. It has nothing to do with the quality of the images but the pure joy it brings him in being able to control every aspect of the image making process from the click of the camera to watching the print appear under the red safe light in the darkroom.  \nHe leads photo tours to different parts of the world in small groups where he likes to share his approach to experiential travel photography. Rather than everyone recreate an image that is popular on Instagram\, Nanda pushes his participants to let their personal experiences shape their photography and the stories that come from the pursuit of this art form. \n \n\nYou can follow Nanda here:\nhttps://www.facebook.com/nandman83\nhttps://www.instagram.com/grumpy_oldman_/\nhttp://phocus.com.sg/\nhttps://www.facebook.com/phocusacademy/ \n  \n-YPS Executive Committee

The serene environs of his native place left a lasting impact and he became attracted to nature at an early age. After graduating in automotive engineering\, Gurcharan lived and worked in the UK for ten years where he sorely missed the space and freedom of the bush. By 2012 he made up his mind and returned to Kenya for good. Returning to the bush coincided with him developing an interest in photography. What started off as a hobby took deep roots in his mind and soon his life started revolving around wildlife and nature photography. Time and the bush were great mentors where he developed and honed his skills to become one of the most noted nature photographers in Africa.  \nThe more time Gurcharan spent in nature\, the more passionate he became towards Mother Earth and the many fellow beings on it. He is committed to the cause of a pristine earth and has devoted his time and energy to many conservation causes in Kenya. He is happy for the fact that his images have come useful for many conservation projects. One thing is for sure\, there are many more exciting things to come from this gifted photographer! \n\nYou can follow Gurcharan here:\nhttps://www.facebook.com/gurcharan.roopra\nhttps://www.instagram.com/gurcharan/\nhttps://twitter.com/gurcharanroopra\nhttps://gurcharanroopra.com \n  \n-YPS Executive Committee

SUMMARY:Hampi with HampiBanagar
DESCRIPTION:YPS Meet Live | March 21\, Sun | 5:30 PM | YPS Facebook Page and YouTube Channel\nRuins of the ancient city of Hampe are on the bucket list of most photographers.  Capturing Hampe in her various moods is a dream that few can realise.  Mr Shivashankar Banagar is one of the fortunate few who live in the neighbourhood\, Hosapete and has photographed this ancient capital of the mighty Vijayanagara empire in all her glorious moods. \nHis association with this “austere\, grandiose site”\, as described by UNESCO is so profound that he is known as ‘Hampibanagar.’ \nTo join the session\n\nFaceBook:\n1. It can be said that there is no one who can match his skill and knowledge of this magnificent monument.   \nAfter completing a course in journalism from Manasa Gangotri at Mysore\, he worked as a reporter from Hospet and Hampi for various media houses like\, The Times\, Vijaya Karnataka\, Udayavani\, Samyuktha Karnataka\, Kannada Prabha\, Samuktya Karnataka\, Varta Bharati\, Hosa Digantha\,  Vijaya Vani\, Hospete Times and Eenamma Kannada Naadu. \nRight from his student days he had a profound love for photography but did not own a camera. He bought a basic point and shoot camera as a result of his association with Mr Pompayyaswami Malematta\, a nature photographer.  At present he uses a Canon 50 x camera to shoot the monument and  regularly uploads his images on FaceBook.  His pictures on Hampi and Pattadakal have been exhibited in the US and Japan and have also been published in a coffee table book brought out during “Akka” sammelan in the US. \nHis proximity to this magnificent\, ancient ruins makes him always available for guidance to photographers. \nYou can follow Banagar’s work here:\nhttps://www.instagram.com/shivashankar_banagar/ \n  \n\n-YPS Executive Committee

SUMMARY:The YPS Saturday Meet - Light Diffusion in Macro Photography
DESCRIPTION:YPS Saturday Meet | Feb 27\, Sat | 5:30 PM IST | Google Meet\nThe composition of a closeup photograph is 80% determined by the lighting\, therefore it is the single most important element a macro photographer should have complete control over\, With good lighting\, we will explore how to make macro photographs pop out\, be sharp\, vibrant\, and visually stunning. \n \nAbout the Speaker\n\nMr Girish Gowda\nGirish was born and brought up in Mandya in a successful middle-class family. He completed his schooling & graduation in his hometown and MBA in Mysore after which he moved to Silicon city – Bengaluru\, in search of good opportunity. He started his corporate career as HR Professional in a multinational company & specialized in Talent Acquisition. \nHaving worked relentlessly for few years\, Girish thought of relaxing a bit on weekends and started exploring different places. Viola! The keeda (worm) of travel and spending time with nature soon caught up and he got pulled towards the love of nature. These ongoing visits became intriguing by the day to know more about wildlife and recording the findings/fascinating wildlife stories. As such\, it started to grow as a passion and bit by bit\, knowing more and more about the little creatures around us\, Girish firmed up his mind to turn his passion into a career in the field of nature and wildlife. \nGirish’s close friend\, Avinash\, noticed the potential in Girish and gifted him a entry-level DSLR for recording his observations. There by\, gave Girish\, a new dimension to explore the world of photography in the year 2013. \nDuring one of his regular visits to Hingaara Homestay at Agumbe\, Girish happened to discuss his career aspirations with Shashank and then started his association as a naturalist at Hingaara. Soon enough the documentation work of the little wonders of Western Ghats began. \nGirish has extensively studied (and is still studying) the wildlife behavior in Western Ghats (not just snakes but other critters importantly) and recorded some mind-boggling facts of these little wonders. Through his keen observation\, untiring search for information and various discussions with specialists\, he himself has become a compendium of knowledge about Western Ghats wildlife and its specialties. \nHis recent foray into helping other photographers achieve better macro photographs with the RADIANT DIFFUSER\, has been a wonderful journey and opend many a pair of eyes to the nuances of effective lighting. \nYou can connect with Mr. Girish here:\nCell – 99864 39974\nEmail – cgirishgowda@gmail.com\nFB – https://www.facebook.com/girishgowdac\nIG – https://www.instagram.com/girishgowda.c/ \n\nLanguage: English \nDo join us on 27 Feb\, 2021\, 5:30 pm IST on Google Meet at the usual coordinates \nAlso request you to join the session 15 mins in prior to check your audio and video functionality. \nThe session starts at sharp 5.30 PM IST \nHere is how to participate: \nClick here or visit the below Google Meet Link on the day of the event\nGoogle Meet Link: https://meet.google.com/jgi-npbe-sjt \nIn case of any issues in connecting to the meeting\, request to please call us on our official number by clicking here or simply dial: +91 9513-YPS-BLR (+91 9513-977-257) \nYou can also WhatsApp us by clicking here (or on the icon below) or by sending a WhatsApp message on the above mentioned official number. \n \nNote: Registration is NOT necessary and look forward to seeing you all this Saturday at 5:15 PM IST. \n\nSome salient features of YPS Saturday Meets: \n\nExclusively for Members.\nHear and be heard – These are interactive sessions and not talk shows.\nDiscuss and learn from real Member Pictures for absolute learning for every one.\nOpinion from experts and knowledge from everyone who wants to share.\n\nSome Google Meet Self-Disciplines to be followed to make the experience memorable for everyone: \n\nDo not interrupt when something is being presented.
