DESCRIPTION:YPS Meet | Oct 05\, Sat | 6:30 PM | YPS Hall\n‘VISMAYA‘ which translates to ‘AMAZEMENT’ & ‘AWE’ is exactly what you feel when you see their presentation called –  “Pictures brighten lives…..”\nVismaya group is a closely knit team consisting of 8 photo enthusiasts: Amar Bhaskar\, Murali Santhanam\, Sisir Kumar\, Venugopal Thantry\, Vinod Balan\, Goutham Ramesh\, Harish Rao & Sridhar Thantry.\nThey share a common vision of using photography to lend a helping hand to the needy.\nWith their theme “Photography for Cause” they bring  together the dream to nurture  talent and the intent to support social cause.  Their mission is to generate financial contributions to organizations committed to serve human cause. \n \nThey say “Every year we photographers churn out a large number of pictures\, many of which end up in social web and just occupy space on hard drive. Some of them find space on our walls and many more get exhibited around the world to earn us titles. Pictures can do a lot more than that if they find their way to other’s walls! ” \nThe Vismaya team will share – \n🔸How these exhibitions shaped  their photography and outlook on pictures they clicked. \n🔸Their experiments with different techniques used to make the images reach the donors. \n🔸Their experience working with multiple social organisations \n🔸Their learnings from motivating general public to donate. \n🔸How the team learns photography as a group. \n🔸The team will also display their pictures that have contributed to the success of their exhibitions. \nAbout the Speakers\nAmar Bhaskar\nA management executive by profession\, Amar’s passion for photography has driven him to capture precious moments in time. Watching nature through the lens has been his most thrilling and satisfying experience. Apart from nature\, he has been actively pursuing and clicking images of ancient architecture. SUMMARY:Master Your Lenses
DESCRIPTION:YPS Meet | Sept 28\, Sat | 6:30 PM | YPS Hall\nEvery photographer has a bag-full of lenses that stay with them even when the bodies change. Some of them are favourites and stay on the body most of the time while others are rarely used. And all of us also have a longer wishlist of lenses that we want in the bag. This session will focus on how to understand the strengths and weakness of your lenses and how to use them to make the type of pictures one wants. A better understanding of the lens will also help the Photographer to make technically superior pictures. Finally\, the session will help you understand how to build your portfolio of lenses suitable for the pictures you make. \nAbout the Speaker\nMurali Santhanam\nMurali Santhanam is a retired Information Technology professional. His photographic journey over the last decade and half has been shaped by friends from YPS and from group Vismaya\, a small group doing “Photography for Cause”. His interest in photography started after reading Kodak Guide for Photography so much that the very first investment that he made after getting employed\, was to buy a camera. He was drawn to photography by the science behind the photography and this interest has continued to help him develop his own  techniques for producing technically better pictures. Association with YPS and Vismaya shaped his understanding of elements of a picture and composition of elements. The one learning from Mr. Anand Sharan\, Bangalore School of Arts and Photography\, that underlies all his pictures is “Background makes a picture”. Murali learns by experimenting and shares his knowledge readily. \nYPS had also given an opportunity over the last few years to serve the members. He applied his IT knowledge to create the YPS Portal and Salon submission and judging software. He was a co-creator of Creative Photo Artist for collective learning through honest discussions.\n\nHere are some of the images by Murali Santhanam. \n \n \n \n \n \n \nPalace and Crescent\nTrishul mountain lit during Sunset showing the three spikes\n  \n-YPS Executive Committee

M N Murthy belongs to Bengaluru and started doing graphic designing for advertising purposes and was identified for his good visuals\, which made him try his hand at photography.  He started doing portraiture in 1997 and concentrated on child portraiture\, fashion and dancers from 2004.  He got identified with his studio ‘Fotogenic’ and came to be fondly known as ‘FotoMurthy’. \nHe was chosen to be ‘The official baby photographer of The Cradle hospital’ in Bangalore and was pioneer of professional ‘infant photography’ in hospitals.  He has captured lovely images of newborn babies for over 6000 parents in the said hospital alone.  However\, owing to his commitments to dance photography and travel for weddings/fine art photography\, he discontinued doing infant photography. \nApart from being the official portrait photographer for Natyanjali School of Dance\, Drishti School of Dance\, Kanagal School of Dance\, NatyaSampada;  he collaborates with 12-15 major dance schools in Bangalore\, for their portrait and portfolio requirements. \nHe frequently collaborates with legendary dance make-up artistes like Kanakaraj and Vijayakumar who do 75% of the Bharatanatyam\, Kuchipudi and Kathak makeups in Bangalore. \nHe proudly admits that he is a die-heard black and white aficionado\, and that about 20-30% of images in every portfolio that he creates\, will contain black and white pictures. He believes that there is something classical and artistic for a photographer to create images in monotones. \nApart from creating artistic portraiture\, his interests are Graphic Design\, Photo-Book Designing and Motion Graphics and also scribbles tiny poems in Kannada\, Tamil and English. \n-YPS Executive Committee

SUMMARY:Timeless Landscape - A Slideshow by Annechira Shiva
DESCRIPTION:YPS Meet | March 30\, Sat | 6:30 PM | State Youth Centre\nLandscapes\, they sometime take us to timeless moments. Capturing such beauty is always breathtaking.\nOur next YPS Meet is a slideshow Timeless Landscape by Mr. Annechira Shiva. \nAbout the Author\n \n\n\n\n\nMr. Annechira Shiva \n\n\n\n\nPopularly known as Shiva Gandhi is a professional photographer from Bangalore. He grew up with sketches and painting in his tender age. His obsession with art grew tremendously and he nourished it into a passionate hobby during his college times with the help of camera rolls. After his graduation in electronics Engineering\, he went on to work as a photojournalist and editor with America Online for 8 years. \nThe intense desire as an artist deep within him triggered to an extent that he decided to take up photography as his profession\, independently. Shiva has depicted the lifestyle of various personalities including actors\, models\, dancers\, writers\, musicians\, politicians\, businessmen and sports personalities through editorial and commercial assignments. His works were appreciated and awarded the “Best Lifestyle Award” in the year 2016. \nTravel and Nature Photography is not as easy as ‘just Click’\, says Shiva. The sketch/framework of the image created in his mind\, which then is slowly and carefully nurtured into series of thoughts linking it to its heritage\, history\, present and to its timeless beauty. These deep compositions in his mind create an imaginary picturesque of the scene. He transfers this imaginary picture into his camera. This requires perfect lighting knowledge\, combination of various angles\, camera adjustments\, and indeed lots of patience and perseverance. \nHis mind does not compromise\, till it is satisfied when it compares the imaginary image to the captured one. Shiva does not favour retouching the images / interference of too much photoshop with the captured image. His photography not only invokes strong feelings within us\, but transports us to that very scene/place. Shiva believes original and natural is priceless. \nHis current passion is to pay tribute to world renowned painting into photographic images without the use of any photographic strobe lights. He has mastered the technique of creating ainting like images by using primitive lighting methods. He spends considerable amount of time in understanding and experimenting various methods to create unique images. As a creative photographer\, his way of training has got him recognition as a master of photography for studio lighting and compositions \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEquipments: He handles sophisticated cameras like Mamia\, Hasselbald\, Canon\, Nikon\, Arri Alexa\, Epic and Sony with ease . He gives life to his Images through his Artistic mind frame and acquired technical knowledge. \nFuture Works: His unique piece of work is a feast to the eyes of the art and nature lovers to dote over\, and calmness to the soul within. While his awesome gallery is stunning to behold\, it is definitely worth a visit. His maiden Exhibition is based on Nature’s SCAPES. His other series of Exhibitions are based on Heritage\, Tribute to Painters [Raja Ravi Varma\, John William Godward]\, Wildlife\, and more to come. \nSome of Mr. Shiva’s work \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLets us meet this Saturday at YPS for a breathtaking visual  experience by Mr. Shiva Gandhi. \n-YPS Executive Committee

SUMMARY:A Journey with the “Third Eye”...Where Stories Born
DESCRIPTION:YPS Meet | December 3\, Mon | 6:30 PM | State Youth Centre\nShooting images or creating images? Photography is an art where we not just shoot but we create an image! \nWe photographers pick our cameras to capture what is in front of us\, sometimes with little manipulations so as to avoid a straightforward photograph as a means of  “creating “ an image rather than simply recording it! The style of producing images where there is evidence of artistic interpretation of the subject matter by the photographer is Pictorial Photography. \nThe next YPS Meet is a slideshow by an eminent pictorial photographer Sri. Nagendra Muthmurdu – A Journey With the “Third Eye”…where stories born! \n \nAbout Sri. Nagendra Muthmurdu \n \nSri. SUMMARY:TRAVEL PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY - A Slideshow by Mr. Russell Dmello
DESCRIPTION:YPS Meet | November 17\, Sat | 6:30 PM | State Youth Centre\nWe all love to travel and we all love to take portraits. How about taking portraits while you travel? Photographing people you don’t know can be a very challenging and a different experience all together. \nThe next YPS meet is a slideshow by Russell Dmello on “Travel Portrait Photography”. \n \nMr. Russell Dmello \nRussell Dmello is a wedding and travel portrait photographer by profession. Earlier based in Dubai\, now in Bengaluru to pursue his passion towards photography. Russell is the co-founder of Photowalk Bengaluru\, one of the popular photography clubs in Bengaluru with a member base of over 4000 members. \nRussell says –\n“I loves travel portraits. Not only do they test your photography skills but also challenge you to interact with people in unfamiliar environments. The end result directly reflects your subject’s personality along with your ability to make them feel at ease\, read the light\, select optimal settings\, and compose a great shot.\n\nAs a photographer\, it’s up to you to develop your own code of ethics. The initial approach can often be the hardest part; taking the shot is comparatively easy. \nAim for a consensual\, mutually enjoyable exchange from which you can both walk away with a happy story to tell. Be open\, smile\, and pay people compliments. If it’s a firm no\, you can smile warmly\, tell them it’s absolutely fine\, and ask them if they would like to see photos you’ve taken of the local area. This way\, you can both still walk away having had a pleasant experience\, and sometimes\, they even change their mind. \nYour challenge now is to make your subject feel at ease. The best portraits come when people are relaxed and open to you. Most crucially\, don’t rush the photo\, say goodbye\, and walk away. Show genuine interest in their lives. Ask questions if you can speak a mutual language. If not\, remember that much of your intentions and warmth can be communicated through body language\, facial expressions\, and gestures.” \n\n  \nLet’s meet this Saturday at YPS to know more about the Travel Portrait Photography by Russell Dmello! \nYPS Executive Committee \n
