SUMMARY:Georgia - Jewel of the Caucasus
DESCRIPTION:YPS Saturday Meet | Apr 27\, Sat | 5:30 PM IST | Travel Photography | Google Meet\nYPS is organizing a photo tour of Georgia later this year. Mr James Kerwin who has been visiting Georgia since Dec 2017 and also lived there through the pandemic will showcase his portfolio from Georgia\, and the capital Tbilisi. \nJames will showcase architectural images\, landscapes and hidden gems with stories and photo tips throughout \nSpeaker:\nMr James Kerwin \nBorn in 1982 into a British family\, James lived in Norwich\, England until January of 2019. He has committed the last ten years to documenting the beauty of forsaken\, dilapidated\, or forgotten architectural wonders; in addition\, he has started exploring ruins\, heritage spaces\, and deserted areas. He started taking architectural photos in late 2013\, and it took him into hidden corners and abandoned areas of cities\, all over the world.  \n‘Decadence\,’ his first series\, began his investigation into deserted buildings. He spent almost ten years building up a comprehensive portfolio that features some of the world’s most fascinating places. His approach to photography focuses on capturing clear lines and vibrant color palettes in the moment\, then enhancing the photos with modern post-processing methods.  \nNumerous international competitions have recognised his work and in 2017 it won both the ND Awards and the Chromatic Colour Awards in the Architecture category. He was placed second in the International Photography of the Year competition’s Architecture category in March 2018. In the exterior category\, his 2019 photo ‘Circle of Trust\,’ taken in Beirut\, Lebanon\, was shortlisted for the 2021 Architectural Photographer of the Year award.  \nHe debuted “Fabrica – A Journey Into Decay” and “Abandoned Lebanon” – published by Jonglez\, in the autumn of 2021. He has been a Pro Partner for Benro tripods since 2017 and was an ambassador for Tenba Camera Bags for some time. He held an affiliation with 5.11 Tactical\, who helped him out with luggage and clothing during 2019.  \nPhotography and travel go hand in hand. He had traveled throughout Europe extensively before he started taking pictures. He first became interested in photography in 2009\, ten months into his time in Melbourne\, Australia. He was set to head to the bright lights of Hong Kong when he went to a small camera store and bought a Panasonic Lumix LX3. Three weeks later\, he was shooting the light trail images that he had shot only a few days earlier\, standing in the dark on a bridge in Hong Kong.  \nHis journeys in pursuit of new experiences have been countless since he first picked up a camera. As a result\, in 2019 he decided to base himself permanently outside of the UK and started a photography adventure tour company\, first in Tbilisi\, Georgia. But as he developed it\, his artistic journey went on\, and he moved to Istanbul\, Türkiye – at the beginning of 2022.  \nHis portfolio shows that travel is a key component of his photographic storytelling. His curiosity about various cuisines\, textures\, colors\, and cultures inspires him to travel to new places. His steadfast passion for photography and love of travel inspire him to conduct thorough research and arrange all the necessary logistics so that he can take his camera to some truly unique places.  \nInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/james.kerwin/  \nYoutube:  www.jameskerwin.uk \n

SUMMARY:Nostalgia - journey from Analogue to Mirrorless
DESCRIPTION:YPS Saturday Meet | Apr 06\, Sat | 6:00 PM IST | State Youth Center\nH Satish\, the presenter of the program says that the present generation of lensmen may not have any knowledge of historical changes or metamorphosis that photography world has seen from the past two centuries or so.  \n \nHe says “The presentation shall cover a brief introduction of analogue cameras\, Films and chemicals that underwent drastic changes from good to better to best\, to what it is now. The days of historical inventions of a Pinhole camera never had an atom of imagination that it will see a Mirrorless camera. The journey has taken centuries\, even in the field of films and the developing process. Those born during the in between age of the analogue and mirrorless\, are the lucky ones to have seen\, felt and used these Vintage cameras and lenses. I have printed images on paper in the dark room and developed the unseen images on sensitive films in total darkness. These memorable journeys in the photography field are an eye opener for the present generation of Digital camera enthusiasts and a great Nostalgic journey for the old timers who still remember the Analogue process of Photography. \nI will be showcasing a few vintage cameras\, flashes\, developing tanks\, and of course digital and mirrorless cameras. I will also talk about the transition\, along with cameras\, with explanations of the trend setters.” \nAbout the Presenter: Mr H Satish\,\nD.cine\, MFIAP\, MICS\, ARPS\, PPSA\, cMoL\, GPA.PESGSPC \nHe is the first Indian to be honoured with EFIAP and MFIAP in Nature colour prints and the youngest Indian to get MFIAP. SUMMARY:Subtle Elements - Demonstration on Product Photography
DESCRIPTION:YPS Saturday Meet | Sat\, Mar 02\, 2024 | 6:00 PM IST | State Youth Center\nProduct photography is a branch of commercial photography that focuses on capturing images of products in a visually appealing and enticing manner for marketing and advertising purposes. The main goal of product photography is to showcase the features\, details\, and quality of a product\, with the aim of attracting and engaging potential customers. The images are typically used in various promotional materials such as websites\, online marketplaces\, catalogs\, brochures\, and social media platforms. Another important aspect of product photography is showcasing the product from different angles\, capturing close-up shots of intricate details\, or demonstrating its functionality in use. This helps potential customers get a clear understanding of the product’s appearance\, features\, and benefits. Effective product photography requires a good understanding of the target audience\, brand identity\, and market trends. It involves collaboration between photographers\, art directors\, stylists\, and other professionals to create compelling images that evoke desire\, trust\, and engagement. Overall\, product photography plays a critical role in influencing consumers’ buying decisions by presenting products in an attractive and professional manner\, and helping businesses stand out in a competitive market.\n\nBring your camera\, lens (50mm / macro) and any small product for a hands-on experience!\n\n\n\nAbout the Mentor:\nMr Mohan Krishnappa\n\n\n\nMohan Krishnappa was born in Bengaluru and pursued a Masters in Information Technology. Currently\, he is working as a Consultant in an IT company.\n\nWhile he is an attentive listener by nature\, he has always been actively involved in sports\, especially cricket\, representing the KSCA division 5 and 4 through a private cricket club during his college days.\n\nHowever\, his true passion for photography blossomed when he started traveling and trekking in the Himalayas. It was during one of these trips that a friend introduced him to the world of DSLR photography\, particularly landscapes and wildlife photography. This introduction turned out to be an eye-opening experience and the best thing that happened to him.  \n\nAround 2009/2010\, he came across an article in the Deccan Herald newspaper about YPS (Youth Photographic Society). Intrigued\, he decided to visit YPS\, which is located at the State Youth Center\, and became a member. This marked the transition from photography as a mere hobby to a more dedicated and responsible passion. \n\nTo further enhance his skills\, he enrolled himself in a 5-day workshop led by the renowned photographer\, Mr Anand Sharan. During this workshop\, he was introduced to the world of portrait photography. Initially\, he focused on capturing animals\, but his interest gradually shifted towards photographing people. This allowed him to break out of his introverted shell as he had to actively engage and connect with people to capture their portraits. \n\nDespite this shift towards portrait photography\, he still find solace in the tranquility of forests. For him\, it is not always about photographing mammals and birds\, but rather about enjoying the raw beauty of nature\, immersing himself in its serenity\, and breathing in the fresh air. \n\nFinding a balance between his career and passion\, he has set up a small home studio for product photography. He dedicate a significant amount of time to exploring different lighting setups and techniques for capturing compelling product images. Lately\, he has also been working on retouching\, editing\, and blending techniques\, using overlays and textures to further refine his photography skills. Overall\, photography has become an integral part of his life\, allowing him to continuously learn\, explore\, and grow both personally and creatively.\n\nInstagram: @mohankrishnappa\nFacebook: @mohankrishnappa\nX: @mohankrishnappa\n\nLanguage: English\n\nRequest everyone to arrive 15 mins early.\n\n-YPS Executive Committee

SUMMARY:Prints and more….
DESCRIPTION:YPS Saturday Meet | Apr 01\, Sat | 5:00 PM IST | State Youth Center\nIn this day of Digital Photography\, have you ever wondered about Printed Pictures… the significance\, importance\, feel\, texture and technicality of printing your image?  \nSatish will be covering the A to Z of printing pictures with his prints on display. \nMany photo artists are content with a small file size of images but there is more to it. Prints are the final word for any photo artist who wants to pursue photography as a hobby or a profession. In fact\, prints and coffee-table books give the pleasure of seeing pictures with their originality and also bring back memories. It is a matter of pride for a photographer when he/she can convey his/her thoughts\, feelings and mood through the photo frames displayed at offices\, homes or hotels. A camera artist gets hooked to the art and the same happens with printing coffee-table books or prints of pictures captured. Printing is the best way of communicating and showcasing one’s masterpieces. There is not a single day in life\, one doesn’t see a photograph printed\, be it in newspapers\, magazines\, hoardings\, books\, pamphlets\, booklets\, wallpapers\, decorated walls and on any other medium.  \nThe world is changing and it is high time you should change with time. \nAbout the Presenter: Mr H Satish\, D.cine\, \nMFIAP\, MICS\, ARPS\, PPSA\, cMoL\, GPA.PESGSPC \nHe is the first Indian to be honoured with EFIAP and MFIAP in Nature colour prints and the youngest Indian to get MFIAP. SUMMARY:Insight to Aviation Photography in India
DESCRIPTION:YPS Saturday Meet | Feb 18\, Sat | 6:30 PM IST | State Youth Center\nAviation photography in India primarily has two faces: the civil airlines spotting and military aviation photography.  Civil airlines spotting is relatively widespread as the complications of clearance process is not much cumbersome whereas the military aviation photography has its own difficulties in getting the right channel for clearance. Military aviation photography has something to do with national security as the flying machines operate in  classified airbases.  Unless\, the operators like IAF or IN or IA invites known contacts to photograph specific events\, the opportunities are quite slim.  However\, through proper approach\, one can obtain clearance for events like Air Force Day parades\, Aero India or public displays by IAF’s aerobatic teams. \nThe scene outside India is much better\, reasons  being simpler policies of respective design houses.  Thus\, the international air shows like singapore\, Dubai\, RIAT etc.\, have been more attractive. \nThe aim of this presentation has the sole purpose of underlining the difficulties and various aspects of photographing military planes. It hovers around the strict clearance process one has to go through. \n \nAbout the Speaker:  Mr Debadatta Maharana \nMr Debadatta Maharana is a graduate in Aeronautical engineering from Aeronautical Society of India and has done his masters in software systems engineering from BITS\, Pilani. Photographing military aircrafts has been a hobby which started in the year 2008.  He was handed  over a DSLR to take some photographs during one of his assignments and  he had no  clue on taking photographs of aircrafts. Journey continued and since then\, he has travelled to lots of air force stations across India and to a solo international airshow in Bahrain in 2016. During this journey he has  made friends from all ages of life starting from a young flight lieutenant fresh out of flying academy to Air Commodores and higher with bigger profiles. All thanks to the love to capture aircrafts. Being an aeronautical engineer\, the love for planes is natural and creating memories through  photographs gives satisfaction of highest order. \nFACEBOOK : Deb Rana \nINSTAGRAM : Deb Rana \nLanguage: English \nRequest everyone to arrive 15 mins early \n-YPS Executive Committee

SUMMARY:YPS Saturday Meet - Ladakh - Land of the Lamas
DESCRIPTION:YPS Saturday Meet | Jan 21\, Sat | 3:00 PM IST | Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath\nJulie! to the ‘Land of the Lamas – Ladakh  \nMany of my friends visited Ladakh very often. Each one of them had different stories to tell. Some were photographers\, some adventurous trekkers and some bike riders! Nevertheless\, everybody intended to visit Ladakh in their lifetime. I used to wonder ‘what there is in store for a photo artist like me?  ‘mera number kab aayega’? And lo and behold\,  I too got an opportunity to take some of my friends to a landscape photography workshop to ‘The Land of Lamas-LADAKH’. \nLadakh is a landscape lover’s paradise. January to December has different lighting for landscapes. I feel a trip to Ladakh is a religious trip for landscape photographers. The dream of every photo artist is to get these beautiful mountains in a different play of light. But hard work\, dedication and determination to get the best of images will make you want to come back to the mountains again and again! \n \nAbout the Mentor:       \nH Satish\nMFIAP\, MICS\, ARPS\, cMOL\, GPA.PESGSPC\, Hon.FICS\, Hon.CPE\, Hon. PESGSPC\, Hon.YPS\, Hon. ECPA; Hon.WPAI; Hon.SAP \nH Satish\, presently the president of YPS has a long career in photography.  He says “I am a crazy traveller\, and a prolific Art Photographer\, who loves to mingle with like minded friends and am a great foodie. I have been in the field of photography for  40 years\, and  a YPS member from 1981- thus completing 40 long years in this No.1 Photography Club of India. I am continuing my hobby and profession – Photography and love to share my images and little knowledge with those who seek.”  \nThe art of playing with light and presenting things ordinary in extraordinary perspective\, the portrayal of nature in its finest detail\, and to capture the various human emotions in all its glory is what distinguishes Satish. The urge to play is natural to any child\, but to play with light and bring forth beautiful images at the age of 12 is sheer prodigy. It is this gift of nature that made him take up cinematography in his academic stint. It was during his graduation that he started to capture nature in all its glory\, naturally  flowed appreciation and awards in both nature and pictorial sections of photography contests the world over. \nHe is the first Indian to be honoured with EFIAP and MFIAP in Nature colour prints; one of the highest honours in the photographic world. \nHe is the first Indian to get Two Masters from world bodies of photography in Nature photography. \nHe served as Secretary and Vice President in Youth Photographic Society\, which is a premier photography club in India. SUMMARY:YPS Saturday Meet - OUR pro TRAITS
DESCRIPTION:YPS Saturday Meet | Dec 17\, Sat | 4:00 PM IST | State Youth Center\nWe all\, literally everyone with a mobile camera\, are photographers now. However\, it is so that we do not have a good portrait of ourselves but only a passport photo taken ages ago which we keep circulating forever.  \nThis Saturday\, let us learn how to shoot a decent portrait\, self or of some good soul.  \nPortraits are not just about creating pixels and storing them in a storage device but a way to portray what and who the subject is\, in other words\, giving life to it. And we can only get/capture such portraits when we ‘know’ the person standing in front of the lens. So this session\, being the last session of 2022\, let us meet all\, understand each other and get to capture a good portrait or get captured! Don’t forget to bring your camera! \nAbout the Mentor:       \nHardik P Shah\n\n\n“My journey of photography started as a hobby which turned out to be my passion within a short span of time. I had no idea that my hobby of clicking would take me here today. Photography has changed my vision of seeing things. \nIt was when I was in Hyderabad as a software engineer\, that I took up photography seriously. Right after my engineering I was selected for one of the MNCs and post-training I was posted to Hyderabad. Bengaluru\, being my hometown\, was my choice of preference but somewhere I believe that what happens is for good and photography is the best thing that happened to me. Working as an IT professional and being in front of the computer all the time\, photography was something that was most exciting and relaxing. With time I have understood and believe that photography is not just about picking up a camera\, start hitting the shutter. It is something much beyond it. If I’m asked to define photography I would say it is an art of capturing the subject in front of you in the most creative way. I like taking portraits\, landscapes and abstracts and prefer shooting in monochrome as it touches my heart and soul. I like to shoot my subjects from a totally different perspective.” \nhttps://linktr.ee/hardikpshah25\nhttps://instagram.com/hardikpshah25\nhttps://facebook.com/hardikpshah25\nhttps://vimeo.com/hardikpshah25 \nLighting Partner:\n \nOur Lighting Partner will be Godox. All the participants will get an opportunity to experience the world’s best light shapers! \n\nRequest everyone to arrive 15 mins in prior. \nLanguage: English

SUMMARY:YPS Saturday Meet - Timeless Portraiture
DESCRIPTION:YPS Saturday Meet | Dec 03\, Sat | 6:30 PM IST | State Youth Center\nA journey into the world of classic portraiture – What do you think when you hear the word portrait? A person or a face with an expression? Each face is different\, has a story and is on a journey. Only when you connect with the person in front of your viewfinder\, will you be able to narrate a story. Not all portraits are captured with a word\, smile or cheese but are captured without a word or giving direction to the subject. You make a portrait when they are ready to express their true self. Welcome to Mohan Krishnappa’s journey of portraits through his viewfinder. \n\n  \n  \nAbout the Speaker:            \nMr Mohan Krishnappa\n \nMohan Krishnappa was born on 3rd May\,1982 in Bengaluru. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Science and a Master’s in Information Technology. Currently\, he is working for an IT company as Solution Consultant. Being an introvert during childhood he was always silent and an excellent listener. He was interested in sports\, and painting and was part of the KSCA divisions 5 and 4 through a private cricket club during his college days. Later travelling and trekking in the Himalayas became a passion and he was introduced to landscape and wildlife photography through a friend. That was the best thing that happened to him along with an introduction to the world of DSLR cameras. Back in 2009-10\, he got to know about YPS through an article in the Deccan Herald newspaper and visited YPS at Yavanika\, State Youth Center and enrolled as a member. Thus hobby became a more responsible passion. He also enrolled on a 5-day workshop conducted by eminent photographer Mr Anand Sharan\, where he was introduced to portrait photography. This also helped him to break the introvert barrier as he had to interact with people to connect with them. He says\, “I still find my peace in forests not while photographing the elusive stripes\, but just to enjoy the raw beauty around\, sulk into myself and  just to breathe the fresh air.” Juggling between career and passion\, he has set up a small home studio for portraits and spends most of his time exploring the lighting setup on his wife and two-year-old daughter. Of late he is working on fine art painterly portrait editing and blending using overlays and textures. \nInsta handle:  md.art.studio \nWebsite:  www.mdartstudio.comLanguage: English

SUMMARY:Introduction to Deep Sky Astrophotography
DESCRIPTION:YPS Saturday Online Meet | Nov 12\, Sat | 5:30 PM IST | S2 E6\nAstrophotography of deep sky objects is one of the most challenging and rewarding branches of photography. As is the case in many other forms of photography\, it is not just the pictures you get at the end of the day (end of night in this case!). The whole experience of spending long hours under star studded skies and collecting photons arriving from thousands and millions of light years away has no parallel. It has created a lot of interest in India among astronomy enthusiasts as well as photography hobbyists in the last few years. This session is an introduction to this fascinating field that presents endless possibilities. As the cliché goes\, this is a discipline where sky is the limit. Or should we say\, even sky is not the limit! \n\nAbout the Speaker:                                                                        \n \nMr. Chandrashekar G \nChandrashekar is into astronomy since 1980s and has wide experience in making and using telescopes. He is active in popularising astronomy through talks\, skywatching programs etc.\, at schools\, colleges\, astronomy seminars and even in the Bengaluru Planetarium.  \nHe started his astrophotography journey with manually driven equipment that looks almost comical in today’s high-tech world. Over the years he has acquired some sophisticated equipment that makes the Astro-life a lot easier. He would be speaking on the basics of deep sky astrophotography along with some of his learnings from years of doing astronomy. \n  \nSocial handles :  \nchandrainsky@gmail.com \nfacebook: Chandrashekar Gopalarao \n  \nLanguage: English \nDo join us on 12 November\, 2022\, 5:30 pm IST on Google Meet at the usual coordinates \nAlso request you to join the session 15 mins prior to check your audio and video functionality. \nThe session starts at sharp 5.30 PM IST \nHere is how to participate: \nClick here or visit the below Google Meet Link on the day of the event\nGoogle Meet Link: https://meet.google.com/iif-znku-vyt \nIn case of any issues in connecting to the meeting\, request to please call us on our official number by clicking here or simply dial: +91 9513-YPS-BLR (+91 9513-977-257) \nYou can also WhatsApp us by clicking here (or on the icon below) or by sending a WhatsApp message on the above mentioned official number. \n \nNote: Registration is NOT necessary and look forward to seeing you all this Saturday at 5:15 PM IST. \n\nSome salient features of YPS Saturday Meets: \n\nExclusively for Members.\nHear and be heard – These are interactive sessions and not talk shows.\nDiscuss and learn from real Member Pictures for absolute learning for every one.\nOpinion from experts and knowledge from everyone who wants to share.\n\nSome Google Meet Self-Disciplines to be followed to make the experience memorable for everyone: \n\nDo not interrupt when something is being presented.
