It was the year 2006\, and the forests with their lush beauty\, endless tranquillity and abundance of activity captured his imagination and secured his fervour. That trip\, and two years since\, he did not once glimpse a tiger. His trips were escapades into the natural life\, a welcome diversion from the concrete jungle we call our habitat. Through the path he emerged\, his first tiger\, the cryptic dodger of his first twenty eight safaris. Nothing can compare to the adrenaline rush\, his fear and happiness\, the fascination of beholding the most majestic creation of the Gods above. \nIt’s been eight years and nothing has changed. In May 2013\, he picked up a point and shoot camera and wanted to carry home the beauty of the wild\, give a physical form to the intangible lure of nature. He started getting inclined towards photography when he picked up his first DSLR in August of 2013. In October 2013\, he went on his first tiger safari with a DSLR. Photography further honed his interest in wildlife. \n As he learnt to capture various species\, he got interested in their nomenclature. As he watched the forest cover of these precious creatures further deplete\, he wondered about the future of our planet. He strongly believes that Photography plays a crucial role in conservation of wildlife and ecological balance. It is most satisfying when someone looks at his images and say “I’ve been watching your images and would love to visit the jungles sometime” . He enjoyed the company of greats such as Dr. G. Thomas\, Shri. E Hanumantha Rao\, Shri. T.R Babu & Shri T.N.A. Perumal which helped him to improve his photography skill. \nHe used to assist in Salon work also as YPS Treasurer. In 1986\, he was elected as President of YPS and during his tenure YPS successfully hosted FIP Convention in Bangalore and also 1st YPS International Salon. \nMr M L Venkataram \n \nMr Venkataram worked for MICO and joined YPS during the early ’70s. He served as the secretary of YPS during 1980-84. He was instrumental in getting a permanent place for YPS in the then newly build State Youth Centre\, from which YPS functions even today. He also was successful in getting some financial aid from the state government during his tenure as the secretary. He also streamlined the membership with application forms\, registries for the programmes and maintaining proper records. \n\n\nMr P N Arya\n \nMr. P N Arya\, ARPS\, AFIAP\, is an Aeronautical Engineer from IIT Kharagpur and served HAL as a Design Engineer. \nHe started off his photography journey with box camera in 1970 and soon got a Pentax SP2. He put up one man show of his images in 1975 at IIT Kharagpur and in 1977 at Alliance De Francaise\, Bangalore. \nLater he came in touch with Dr. G. Thomas\, Shri. C. Rajgopal\, N. Sunder Raj who were instrumental in improving his pictorial photography skills. \nMr Arya\, has over 200 acceptances in International Salons. His work was included to represent India in FIAP Biennial in 1981\, 1983\, 1985. In 1988 he won KODAK award for Photographic Excellence professional category and Olympus Hon Mention around the same time. \n\nMr T S Srinivasa Rao \n\nMr. T S Srinivasa Rao\, is a Mechanical Engineer who developed an interest in photography at a very young age\, thanks to his brother-in law. What started as a hobby slowly became a passion. \nHe was introduced to YPS by one of his friends and he started attending all the major events conducted by YPS. In 1986 he started participating in the National & International Salons. He served YPS as the treasurer\, joint secretary and was its secretary during 1986-89. Although most of his commercial work is done on digital\, Nanda still shoots all his personal work on film. It has nothing to do with the quality of the images but the pure joy it brings him in being able to control every aspect of the image making process from the click of the camera to watching the print appear under the red safe light in the darkroom.  \nHe leads photo tours to different parts of the world in small groups where he likes to share his approach to experiential travel photography. By 2012 he made up his mind and returned to Kenya for good. Returning to the bush coincided with him developing an interest in photography. What started off as a hobby took deep roots in his mind and soon his life started revolving around wildlife and nature photography. Time and the bush were great mentors where he developed and honed his skills to become one of the most noted nature photographers in Africa.  \nThe more time Gurcharan spent in nature\, the more passionate he became towards Mother Earth and the many fellow beings on it. He was one of the founder members of YPS in 1971.\nHe was also a founder Member of Focal Plane in 1979\, which in addition to promoting and supporting wild life photography\, was also engaged in initiatives aimed at nature conservation.\nThrough Focal Plane Mr. Bhaskara\, popularised the Tree plantation initiatives in Bangalore in mid 1970s\, and also served as a Tree Warden.\nHe participated and contributed to the conduct of and familiarising Photographic Competitions in Bangalore.\nHis photographs have been recognised in various photographic competitions and salons across India and Asia\, and have been awarded Prizes and certificates\, especially in the Wild Life category in the 1970s and in early 1980s. \nMr Mahantesh C Morabad \nMr. Mahantesh C Morabad\, a Mechanical Engineering Graduate\, served HAL in Design Department.\nIn 1974 on recommendation of Late Dr G Thomas he joined YPS. He has served YPS as President once and Vice-president twice.\nHe used to regularly participate in Salons in CS (Pictorial) and won many awards/CM and several acceptances in National and International Salons.\nHe was also in charge of Salon Committee for several years \nMr M S Hebbar \n \nMr. Sreenivasa Hebbar\, is an Engineer having served MICO as Sr. Design Engineer was 25 Years.\nHe was one of the founder members of YPS in 1971. He served as YPS President and uplifted YPS and succeeded in bringing the name and fame\, besides the Premium Position that the YPS-Bangalore\, now enjoys throughout the country.\nIt was Mr. Hebbar who nurtured the culture of conducting All India Salons – annually\, during his stint as President at YPS and that is a continuing event\, even now.\nHe was also a working committee member of The Federation of Indian Photography which is the national body (Indian Unit) of the International FIAP Organization. It was during his graduation that he started to capture nature in all its glory\, naturally  flowed appreciation and awards in both nature and pictorial sections of photography contests the world over. \nHe is the first Indian to be honored with EFIAP and MFIAP in Nature color prints; one of the highest honors in the photographic world. \nHe is the first Indian to get Two Masters from world bodies of photography in Nature photography. \nHe served as Secretary and Vice President in Youth Photographic Society\, which is a premier photography club in India. He completed his schooling at Rotary English Medium School\, Moodabidri and then studied at Sri Bhuvanendra College\, Karkala. Being born and brought up in a village\, the natural instinct to conserve wildlife and nature\, influenced a lot in his life. \nHis special interest for butterflies grew when he was allotted a project on “Study of local butterflies”\, by his Zoology teacher\, Prof. Ashok C H\, during his graduation days at Alva’s College Moodbidri. Since then\, he has been keenly observing these winged beauties and dedicated himself to conserve them. \nAs a 19 year old\, he had recorded about 30 species. They had a wild patch of Clerodendrum viscosum which used to attract many butterflies including the endemic Malabar Banded Peacock (now the logo of the butterfly park). He was so fascinated by this butterfly that he spent hours waiting for it near the flowering patch with his camera. These butterflies returned back to the same flowering patch every half an hour to one hour and it was worth the wait. He managed to click his first photograph of this beauty  with his Kodak EasyShare camera\, which was gifted by his brother. Until 2013 he had recorded about 70 species of butterflies in his backyard.  \nThe Butterfly Park in Belvai which was founded by him in the year 2011\, with the aim of conserving the butterfly fauna of Western Ghats\, also creates awareness among the general public and students\, making them understand the importance of butterflies in nature. The park encourages and motivates people to create and conserve natural habitat for butterflies\, and other wildlife forms.  His 100 minutes documentary film “Life of butterflies”\, released last season\, reveals the interesting facts about butterflies and their life history. The footage for the documentary was shot\, exclusively at the butterfly park by him\, in a 4 years span. It is the country’s first ever comprehensive documentary on butterflies and is appreciated by butterfly experts across the nation. \nHe was featured in ‘Amazing Indians’ Season III by Times Now as an ‘Exceptional Eco Saviour’ in 2013 for his work on butterfly conservation. The butterfly park at Belvai was also honoured by ‘World Book of Records’\, London\, UK\, in 2018 for hosting awareness programs and conservation activities. At college he did medical and clinical photography.  While attending a slideshow at YPS\, he came to know about  S.L.R. cameras & telephoto lenses. At the slideshow he met  H.N.Allamaprabhu and M.S.Hebbar who influenced him to a great extent. He has had some of his most enjoyable days out there with a little photography and a bit of “craic” with the likes of the legendary Joey Dunlop and Conor McGinn. Sadly\, too many Irish road-racers have been badly injured and have lost their lives in the sport – they give so much enjoyment to so many fans often for very meagre prizes. Brian still attends road-racing events and still enjoys the challenge involved in photographing this sport. \n\nTo broaden horizons\, Brian regularly enters International Salons under the auspices of The Federation Internationale de l’Art Photographique – FIAP and The Photographic Society of America – PSA.  \nWhen you enter an International Salon “parish politics” don’t exist – you survive on the strength of your pictures. Irish photographers have\, over the years\, punched well above their weight in International Salons. \nAchievements: \n\nTo date Brian has amassed over 4000 acceptances with a total of over 520 awards in National and International photographic competitions. \nBrian was awarded his first FIAP Gold Medal in The Edinburgh Photographic Society’s 148th International Exhibition of Pictorial Photography – one of the most difficult salons to achieve acceptances where 1755 prints were entered from 41 countries and only 204 prints were accepted for the exhibition – an acceptance rate of 11.62%. \nIn February 2011 he was awarded his first PSA Gold Medal in 24eme Salon Photo de Riedisheim in France. \nIn May 2011 he was awarded his first London Salon of Photography medal\, in their centenary year. \nIn June 2011 Brian was awarded his first FIAP Blue Badge for the “Best Photographer” in The 3rd Great British Small Print Circuit (He received 51 acceptances with 3 awards). Since then he has performed close to 2500 kidney transplants\, the most by any surgeon in Karnataka.  \nHe was the President of the prestigious Indian Society of Organ Transplantation from 2010 to 2012\, and has many publications in national and international journals. He has received many awards\, including the Lifetime Achievement Award given by the Nephrology Association of Karnataka\, Lifetime Achievement Award given by FKCCI\, Karnataka\, Samaja Seva Bhushan Award given by the Subharam Trust\, Karnataka\, and many others. \nDr Huilgol has been invited by the Govts of Bangladesh\, Ethiopia\, Uganda\, and Nigeria to set up kidney transplant centres in those countries\, and to train their surgeons. \nWhile still in medical college as an undergraduate\, he made his debut as a cricket commentator in English for All India Radio\, Bangalore\, in 1972. He continued to give commentary\, in spite of being a busy surgeon\, until 2005. He was probably the youngest commentator in the country when he made his debut as a 20 year old in 1972. He has also lent his voice to Doordarshan for some international cricket matches\, including the Women’s World Cup in 1997\, and the Sri Lanka vs India ODI in 1997. \nAgain\, while still an undergraduate\, he became a hypnotist\, and conducted many hypnosis shows in Bangalore and Mysore. \nEven as a youngster Dr Huilgol was interested in nature and wildlife\, but it wasn’t until 2007 when he developed a keen interest in wildlife photography. With Mr M N Jayakumar as his guru\, he bought his first digital camera\, the Canon 1D Mk3\, and started visiting many wildlife reserves in India and abroad.  \nIn 2008 he received his Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society. In 2009 he received the Runner-up Award in the prestigious BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year in the Mammals Behaviour category. His images and articles have appeared in many magazines and books. He is a very sought-after speaker on topics ranging from travels to post-processing.  \nIn June 2001\, his image and video of a large male tiger (later named Masti) caught in a jaw trap in Nagarahole Tiger Reserve led to the arrest of over 40 poachers of the notorious Sansar Chand gang.
