SUMMARY:Glassware Photography Workshop - 2 by Vinod Sunder
DESCRIPTION:YPS Workshop | May 26 | State Youth Centre\nYPS takes pleasure in announcing  a second workshop on “Glassware Photography” due to overwhelming demand.\nThe workshop would involve in giving plain glassware a colorful touch and also defining its shape in eye catching borders. It will also give an insight to the artistic power of refraction created by liquids in the glassware. The glassware that will be used will be mainly wine glasses and also regular glasses used on a dining table. Mentor for the workshop will be Mr. Vinod Sunder\, a hobbyist photographer with a keen interest in tabletop photography.. \n \nAbout the Workshop\nParticipants will be tutored on the set up and all the gear that will be required for this genre. Backgrounds also play an important role and the material needed to achieve this will be revealed. As this would be more of an indoor form of photography\, we would encourage participants to experiment with the knowledge gained in their respective homes. Emphasis will be laid on the usage of flashes as they play a major role in this genre of photography and in “off” camera. This is further related to the usage of ‘wireless triggers’ to activate the flashes remotely. Participants will also understand about the setting up of the camera when using flashes. This workshop will also “throw the floor open” to all participants to shoot glassware under the guidance of the mentor. \nWorkshop Schedule\n\nWorkshop Overview: 9:30 am to 10:00 am\n\nIntroduction\, discussion of expectations and agenda.\n\n\n Slideshow by Mr. Vinod Sunder: 10:00 am to 10:30 am\nSetup Explanation: 10:30 am to 11:00 am\n Demonstration 11:00 am to 11:30 am\nShooting Session:  11:30 am to 1:30 pm\n\nBright Field (2 Setups)\nDark Field (2 Setups)\n\n\nLunch Break: 1:30 pm to 2:15 pm\nShooting Session : 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm\nQuestions and Open House: 4:30 pm to 5:00 pm\n\nImportant Information about the Workshop\n\nParticipants will be required to bring the following:\n\nA DSLR camera (ensure battery is fully charged and carry battery charger)\nRecommended lenses (any one): 35mm prime\, 50mm prime\, 18-55mm\, 18 – 140mm\, 55 – 200mm.\nFlash and Radio Triggers (carry extra batteries and ensure all the batteries are fully charged and carry battery charger)\n\n\nYPS will Provide:\n\nGlassware\nTables\nBackdrops\n\n\n\nFees & Registration\n\nLimited Registrations: 20 only\nWorkshop Fee for YPS members is Rs. 1500/- per person. He was not totally new to a camera and had dabbled with a Minolta SLR and Sony point-and-shoot digital cameras but more for casual photography. He had served in the Merchant Navy for 33 years and after his retirement in 2010 he decided that he needed a hobby or two to keep him occupied since he was not keen on a day job. \nAfter seeing a relative with a Nikon\, he took the plunge and became a ‘Nikonian’ too. Then began the decision of what genre to settle for as a main interest. Having pored over hundreds of photographs in 1x.com\, 500px.com and Flickr\, still life and tabletop photography caught his eye and he decided it was the genre he would give preference to\, but with options for other genres open as well. \nHe is a self taught photographer when it comes to still life & tabletop photography as nobody in Bangalore was conducting workshops in this genre. Google helped him a lot in finding topics and tutorials and so did YouTube videos. This is where he discovered what ‘dark field’ and ‘bright field’ lighting was all about and it played a major role when photographing glassware. Still life photography involves using everyday objects within the house and all it needs is some good arrangements to create good composition. Fruits\, vegetables\, earthenware\, wooden kitchen items can contribute towards creating impressive still lifes. Given the fact that the photography was restricted to indoors\, space constraints in an apartment was a bit disadvantageous but achievable after moving furniture to create the space needed. Just a DSLR was not sufficient and his ‘arsenal’ saw the entry of soft boxes\, flashes\, wireless triggers\, backdrops\, light stands\, studio lights\, gels\, reflectors\, tripods\, monopods and Eneloop batteries. \nThe best publicity he achieved was when a few of his photographs were featured in the March 2016 issue of ‘Smart Photography’. He has uploaded many of his pictures in 500px and most of them have gained the ‘popular’ status. \nHis other hobby is woodworking and he even fabricated a tall cabinet to store all his indoor photography gear. When indoor photography ‘takes a back seat’ he pursues woodworking which has led him to acquire a fair number of power tools. He mentions that living in an apartment has forced him into using a larger balcony as his workshop. \nHe adds that even though tabletop photography can be a bit challenging due to setting up of equipment\, the end result is very satisfying. One does not need a high end camera or lenses and even entry level gear can produce good results. He has restricted himself to a Nikon D7000 and some mid-range lenses and they have been serving him well. Vinod says he will continue with his passion for still lifes for a long period but is also keen to experiment with landscapes\, slow shutter speed and time lapse photography. \nVinod says\, “Still life photography involves using everyday objects within the house and all it needs is some good arrangements to create good composition.  Fruits\, vegetables\, earthenware\, wooden kitchen items can contribute towards creating impressive still lifes.”

Award-winning Wildlife Photographer. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n“Photography is at its most powerful when style flair and content originality come together\,” says Jayanth. \nJayanth took up serious photography in 2004\, and after gradually moving out of his day job to pursue his passion full time\, co-founded Toehold in 2010 and especially since then\, has been a prolific producer of consistently stunning imagery — the kind that is planned in a studio and executed outdoors. Effortlessly combining natural history and fine-art elements\, Jayanth brings back rarely seen perspectives from the little-visited domains and far corners of the natural world. \nBehind Jayanth’s awe-inspiring work are a fierce commitment to nail the composition in the field\, an assiduous abstinence from digital manipulation\, a nearly devotional love for quality\, and zero appetite for compromise. Jayanth uses the strengths of his tools to his immense advantage\, creating powerful vignettes of optical excellence designed to pamper the aesthetic corner of a nature lover. \nTravelling is oxygen for Jayanth\, and he wants to explore all possible natural hotspots of the world while he’s on the planet. SUMMARY:Glassware Photography Workshop by Vinod Sunder
DESCRIPTION:YPS Workshop | Apr 28 | State Youth Centre\nYPS takes pleasure in announcing in conducting a workshop on “Glassware Photography”. It would involve in giving plain glassware a colorful touch and also defining its shape in eye catching borders. It will also give an insight to the artistic power of refraction created by liquids in the glassware. The glassware that we will be focusing on will be more on wine glasses and also regular glasses used on a dining table. Mentor for the workshop will be Mr. Vinod Sunder\, a hobbyist photographer with a keen interest in tabletop photography. Emphasis will be laid on the usage of flashes / speedlites/studio strobes as they play a major role as the primary light source and in “off camera” positions. This is further related to the usage of ‘wireless triggers’ to activate the flashes remotely. Participants will also understand about the setting up of the camera when using flashes. This workshop will also “throw the floor open” to all participants to set up the glassware and experiment for themselves under the guidance of the mentors. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorkshop Schedule\na.

SUMMARY:Timeless Landscape - A Slideshow by Annechira Shiva
DESCRIPTION:YPS Meet | March 30\, Sat | 6:30 PM | State Youth Centre\nLandscapes\, they sometime take us to timeless moments. Capturing such beauty is always breathtaking.\nOur next YPS Meet is a slideshow Timeless Landscape by Mr. Annechira Shiva. \nAbout the Author\n \n\n\n\n\nMr. Annechira Shiva \n\n\n\n\nPopularly known as Shiva Gandhi is a professional photographer from Bangalore. He grew up with sketches and painting in his tender age. His obsession with art grew tremendously and he nourished it into a passionate hobby during his college times with the help of camera rolls. After his graduation in electronics Engineering\, he went on to work as a photojournalist and editor with America Online for 8 years. \nThe intense desire as an artist deep within him triggered to an extent that he decided to take up photography as his profession\, independently. Shiva has depicted the lifestyle of various personalities including actors\, models\, dancers\, writers\, musicians\, politicians\, businessmen and sports personalities through editorial and commercial assignments. His works were appreciated and awarded the “Best Lifestyle Award” in the year 2016. \nTravel and Nature Photography is not as easy as ‘just Click’\, says Shiva. The sketch/framework of the image created in his mind\, which then is slowly and carefully nurtured into series of thoughts linking it to its heritage\, history\, present and to its timeless beauty. These deep compositions in his mind create an imaginary picturesque of the scene. He transfers this imaginary picture into his camera. This requires perfect lighting knowledge\, combination of various angles\, camera adjustments\, and indeed lots of patience and perseverance. \nHis mind does not compromise\, till it is satisfied when it compares the imaginary image to the captured one. Shiva does not favour retouching the images / interference of too much photoshop with the captured image. His photography not only invokes strong feelings within us\, but transports us to that very scene/place. Shiva believes original and natural is priceless. \nHis current passion is to pay tribute to world renowned painting into photographic images without the use of any photographic strobe lights. He has mastered the technique of creating ainting like images by using primitive lighting methods. He spends considerable amount of time in understanding and experimenting various methods to create unique images. As a creative photographer\, his way of training has got him recognition as a master of photography for studio lighting and compositions \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEquipments: He handles sophisticated cameras like Mamia\, Hasselbald\, Canon\, Nikon\, Arri Alexa\, Epic and Sony with ease . He gives life to his Images through his Artistic mind frame and acquired technical knowledge. \nFuture Works: His unique piece of work is a feast to the eyes of the art and nature lovers to dote over\, and calmness to the soul within. While his awesome gallery is stunning to behold\, it is definitely worth a visit. His maiden Exhibition is based on Nature’s SCAPES. His other series of Exhibitions are based on Heritage\, Tribute to Painters [Raja Ravi Varma\, John William Godward]\, Wildlife\, and more to come. \nSome of Mr. Shiva’s work \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLets us meet this Saturday at YPS for a breathtaking visual  experience by Mr. Shiva Gandhi. \n-YPS Executive Committee

SUMMARY:3D Photography - Challenges and Techniques
DESCRIPTION:YPS Meet | January 19\, Sat | 6:30 PM | State Youth Centre\nWe see the world with two eyes and understand the depth of what is in front of us. And as most of our cameras fail in capturing the depth of a scene\, it is all flat. It was in 1840s when the world heard about the 3D Photography\, also known as Stereoscopic Photography\, for the first time ever. \nAt the next YPS Slideshow meet let us understand the art of capturing and displaying three dimensional images from a renowned 3D Photographer Mr. Nanda Kumar! \n \nThe world was already over whelmed when the word “Photography” was introduced for the first time in history\, as we could capture the light in reality. And when they heard 3D Photography\, it was a WOW moment! \nThe challenges involved in 3D Photography and the technology required in executing the same will be explained by Mr. nanda Kumar\, combined with his own experience and display of images created by him. \nAbout Mr. Nanda Kumar \n \nMr. Nanda Kumar son of Shri.Subba Rao and Smt.Kamalamma\, is a senior photographer in media industry from the cultural city of Mysore.  He had interest in photography from his high school days itself and got inspired by the great Puttanna Kanagal Kannada film director for his black and white photography techniques. He could not continue his formal education after his SSLC  as he lost his parents.  He was on his own at very young age itself.  He concentrated on full time photography and participated on national level Hoysala photography award and won first place in both colour and black & white category.   He served many years as photo journalist for state and local newspapers. He worked for Prajavani and Deccan Herald as official photographer for 10 years from Hassan.  He held a Photo Exhibition of his pictures on babies\, Wildlife\, Birds\, Photo journalism for the first time in Hassan and it was inaugurated by Kannada film director Nagathihalli Chandrashekar. He was greatly inspired by the film Chota Chetan 3D movie and started research on the 3D technics and met technicians of the movie and received guidance.   He took it as a challenge\, after 7 years of research and developement with so many cameras and technics he invented his own 3D Camera setup.  He later did research for 3D glass through out India and after he made his own set up of 3D camera and 3D glasses he started experimenting at the events like birthdays\, marriages and other events and tasted success. \nIn the year 2012 he launched his own website with the hands of great cine actor and senior photographer Shri. Shivram.  Hindustani/Carnatic singer Smt. Sangeetha Katti and Padmashree Kadri Gopalnath\, Saxophone artist inaugurated photo exhibition in Bangalore Press Club. \nThen he faced real challenge of making people understand his website because they didn’t have 3D glasses. He got an idea of experimenting  with his 3D Technique on historical places and monuments.  He got the opportunity to capture Shravanabelagola Mahamastakabhisheka 2018 in 3D with the support of Swamiji and the Deputy Commissioner of Hassan District.  After one and half month effort he was successfull and his 100 magnificient pictures got exhibited in the permanently gallery.  During April 2018 his  3D photo exhibition was held titled “Jaina kashi in 3D” in Bangalore Metro Rangoli gallery for three days and was inaugurated by Praveen Godkhindi with grand success. \nHe has number of followers and he shares his knowledge and talent with them through social media like Facebook etc.  He has many photographers interested in 3D worldwide following him on his Facebook page 3D studio. \nLet us meet this Saturday at YPS to experience Stereoscopic Photography! \nYPS Executive Commiitee

Through his ‘Tabletop’ series\, Vinod Sunder demonstrates how!   After always being on the high seas\, sailing to all parts of the world he now enjoys ‘time at home’. \nVinod says\, “Still life photography involves using everyday objects within the house and all it needs is some good arrangements to create good composition.  Fruits\, vegetables\, earthenware\, wooden kitchen items can contribute towards creating impressive still lifes.” \nVinod Sunder took up photography more seriously as a hobby in 2012. \nHe is a self-taught photographer when it comes to still life & tabletop photography as nobody in Bangalore was conducting workshops in this genre. One does not need a high-end camera or lenses and even entry level gear can produce good results. He has restricted himself to a Nikon D7000 and some mid-range lenses and they have been serving him well. Vinod says he will continue with his passion for still lifes for a long period but is also keen to experiment with landscapes\, slow shutter speed and time lapse photography. \nSun\, Jan 6\, 11:00 AM – Award  Ceremony\nThe winners of the YPS 36th All India Digital Salon 2018 will be recognised. We will also recognize and thank Sponsors and Supporters who have contributed to the success of the Salon. The event starts with refreshments at 10:15 AM and the award ceremony will start at 11:00 AM. \nYPS Executive Committee extends warm invitation to all photo and art lovers to join us during the Award Ceremony of YPS 36th All India Digital Salon 2018 on Sunday\, January 6th\, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Venkatappa Art Gallery. \n  \nClick here to view the success report.

SUMMARY:Air Show at YPS
DESCRIPTION:YPS Meet | December 15\, Sat | 6:30 PM | State Youth Centre\nHere’s a photographer who has added a very unique genre to Photography!\nAt the next YPS Slideshow meet\, we invite you aboard\, for an exciting journey of  test flights with Mr Debadatta Maharana! \n \nAbout Mr. Debadatta Maharana \n \nMr. Rana is a graduate in Aeronautical engineering from Aeronautical Society of India and has done his masters in Software Systems Engineering from BITS\, Pilani. \nAfter a year of apprentice training in HAL\, Bangalore\, and two years of Contract employment at HAL Flight Test Centre\, in 1996 he joined ADA\, the lab of DRDO responsible for design\,  development and flight testing of Light Combat Aircraft. Since then\, it has been a journey of mixed emotions and will continue until 2028. Currently\, he is heading the Telemetry and Instrumentation Division in Aeronautical Development Agency\, an autonomous body of DRDO.  This organisation is responsible for design\, development and testing of India’s Light Combat Aircraft ( \nIn the year 2008\, when he travelled to Leh with LCA\, he picked up a DSLR for the first time but had no clue about photographing aircrafts. The journey continued and since then\, he has travelled to many Air force stations across India and in 2016 to a solo International Airshow in Bahrain.  During this journey\, he made friends of all ages\, starting from a young Flight Lieutenant fresh out of flying academy to Air Commodores. \nHe says\, “Basically\, I am an aeronautical Engineer and love for planes is built into all my veins.   Photographing the planes just happened\, when I was casually asked by my seniors to pick up some images of LCA while travelling to Leh for winter testing.  It’s been a pleasant journey since then and Aviation photography is continuing as a hobby.” \nThanks to his growing love to capture aircrafts\, this presentation will take us through some interesting incidents. \n-YPS Executive Commiitee

SUMMARY:Pictures in the Wild
DESCRIPTION:YPS Open House | December 8\, Sat | 6:30 PM | State Youth Centre\n  \nArmed with cameras\, brothers Yogish and Harish\, travel together to create “Pictures in the wild ” \nThe next YPS Open House will be a presentation by duo brothers Yogish and Harish.\n \n  \nAbout Sri. Yogish N N \nYogish is a Life Member of YPS and from Bengaluru. He has done his electronics engineering from RVCE. He started his career in digital circuits and switched over to software\, early in his career. He is a software architect who has architected and designed many software products. \nHis photography journey started in the late 90s\, with the purchase of a Nikon FM10 film SLR with a 70-210 mm lens\, which both he and his brother would use. He photographed quite a lot with the FM10\, including in Europe and the likes of Kabini etc. \nIn 2007\, He moved to a digital SLR with the purchase of a Canon 400D and a 100-400mm  lens. Initial days of digital photography were mainly Wildlife. He was inspired heavily by India Nature Watch\, which at that time\, was a fantastic forum for wildlife enthusiasts. This journey took him to most sanctuaries in India and most family outings turned out to be in the Jungles. \nHe’s been part of YPS for almost a decade and through YPS\, has had the honour of his image being selected for representing India in the FIAP Nature Biennial World cup\, in which team India won the Gold medal. \nApart from wildlife\, he takes pictures of family and kids and occasional travel images. He is currently exploring more genres in photography. \nHe will be mainly presenting pictures from his wildlife journey along with a few travel images. \n  \nAbout Sri. Harish N N \nHarish\, younger brother of Yogish is also a Life Member of YPS. He is an advocate by profession. \nHis photographic journey is similar to Yogish\, starting with the FM10 in late 90s and moving on to his first DSLR in 2007 with the purchase of a Canon 40D. \nHe was introduced to nature in an early life by their father who would take them to wildlife and bird sanctuaries. In 2007\, his father took the entire family to Kenya\, which started a more serious wildlife journey. This interest in wildlife photography became a passion after joining India Nature Watch – a website portal for Indian nature. INW was his primary source of inspiration and learning. Birding and bird photography became his passion. \nHe won the Nikon-Better Photography Wildlife Photographer Award -2009 in the wildlife category and subsequently\, was awarded the Nikon-Better Photography Photographer of the Year Award -2009.  Singapore Tourism Board\, a co-sponsor of the event invited him to Singapore to click pictures which they used for their promotional advertisements. \nHe has been a member of YPS for almost a decade and through YPS he has had the honour of being a member of the Indian Team that won the Bronze Medal (Projected Images Section) in the 17th FIAP Nature Biennial World Cup – 2014. \nApart from photography\, his hobbies include singing and playing musical instruments. The pictures he would present would include mainly of birds apart from a few wildlife and other images.  As the brothers have travelled together for many wildlife tours\, they would try to avoid repetition of similar images though there may be images taken in similar situations. \n  \n-YPS Executive Committee

SUMMARY:A Journey with the “Third Eye”...Where Stories Born
DESCRIPTION:YPS Meet | December 3\, Mon | 6:30 PM | State Youth Centre\nShooting images or creating images? Photography is an art where we not just shoot but we create an image! \nWe photographers pick our cameras to capture what is in front of us\, sometimes with little manipulations so as to avoid a straightforward photograph as a means of  “creating “ an image rather than simply recording it! The style of producing images where there is evidence of artistic interpretation of the subject matter by the photographer is Pictorial Photography. \nThe next YPS Meet is a slideshow by an eminent pictorial photographer Sri. Nagendra Muthmurdu – A Journey With the “Third Eye”…where stories born! \n \nAbout Sri. Nagendra Muthmurdu \n \nSri. Nagendra Muthmurdu is a self-styled pictorial photographer with many distinctions to his credit. He still has many ideas on this simple and elegant pictorial scene. He is also one of the jury members for the YPS 36th All India Salon 2018! \nDuring his career extending over 18 years\, he had won over 10 International Awards\, 20 National Awards and 800+ exhibits in India and in 25 countries abroad. He earned his first distinction\, AFIAP\, in 2011 and achieved EFIAP in 2017. He also achieved FFIP in the same year.
