SUMMARY:YPS Meet - Enchanting Mountainsides
DESCRIPTION:YPS Meet | MAR 3 | 6:30 PM | State Youth Centre\nMountains are one of the most enchanting places on earth. They present different views every time you visit them. There are so many dynamic factors that contribute to this quality of mountains like the clouds\, the mist\, the seasons and the lighting. Some of these factors also change so rapidly that you would miss the fleeting views unless you anticipated them. \nMr. Goutham Ramesh is a landscape photographer who exploits these qualities of the mountains to produce stunning pictures.  Goutham is no stranger to YPS. His Macro Workshop in June 2016 turned many YPS members into Macro Photographers. \nThis time the viewers will see his brilliance in producing Landscape Pictures which have been sold in exhibitions to the public to raise funds for worthy human causes.  Goutham Ramesh will be presenting a slideshow and talk on his love with Munnar\, a place that he has visited many times and his recent views of Himalayas from Uttarakand. In the process\, the audience will get to learn\, \n\nhow to understand and anticipate vibrant scenes\nhow to make good pictures in every season\nhow to compose the various elements presented by the mountains\nhow to plan your visits to the mountains\nwhat gear would help you succeed in making mountain landscapes\nhow to present your pictures through proper processing\n\nHere are some examples of his work. You can also visit his personal web-site Canvas of Light to see more.

Birding with him was a sheer joy. \n \n \n  \n  \n  \n  \n \n\n \n Wildlife Week\nIn the year 1952 with a view to preserve the fauna of India\, particularly to take urgent steps to prevent extinction of any species\, the Government of India established an Indian Board of Wild Life (IBWL).  The Board has since been doing pioneering work to arouse public consciousness in favour of wildlife preservation. \nFrom time immemorial\, our wildlife has been closely associated with our legendary beliefs and our folklores\, with our epics and our history. Our lives would be very much poorer without these varied forms that build up the balance of nature. Wildlife preservation in fact implies active and planned wildlife management under which all forms of life would progress side by side with human progress\, each in its own sphere of influence and utility and without any detriment to human interests. In fact\, it is with this end in view that wildlife sanctuaries and national parks have been established and developed in suitable localities all over the country. \nIn order to arouse a general awakening in the common man in favour of protection of wildlife\, the Indian Board of Wild Life (IBWL) decided to observe the Wildlife Week and since then from October 2 – 8 every year organize different activities related to wildlife conservation to commemorate this week. \nEvery year around this time (October 2 to 8) governments\, environmentalists\, activists\, educators organize different activities to accelerate the awareness of wildlife conservation among people. India\, being a mega-storehouse of various species\, is also able to manage several conferences\, awareness programmes\, and public meetings among the nature lovers. Schools and educational institutions organize events such as wildlife related movie screening\, painting competition/essay writing/ debate competition for young children with wild life as the theme. \nBangalore has the largest community of Wildlife Photographers. To celebrate wildlife and its conservation\, YPS will be celebrating Wildlife Week with a function on October 8th 2017.

SUMMARY:YPS Workshop - Outdoor Portrait Photography by Asif & Satish
DESCRIPTION:YPS Workshop | JUL 22 & 23 | Venkatappa Art Gallery\nWe always think of studios and lights when it comes to portraits of people\, though most of us take pictures of people in broad daylight. SUMMARY:Presenting your pictures
DESCRIPTION:YPS Meet | Jul 15 | 6:30 PM | State Youth Centre\nDodging and burning are steps to take care of mistakes God made in establishing tonal relationships. – Ansel Adams \nFrom negative to print or from sensor to TIFF is a journey that can make or break pictures. Dark-room techniques and Post-processing techniques were always used by great photographers to bring that life\, that difference into their pictures that made their good pictures look great. As mentioned by Ansel Adams we do not live in an ideal world where everything is “picture perfect”. Nor are we “Igors” pulling the switch to help cameras to take pictures. Photographers are artistic souls who have an idea about the end-result as they click an image. \n \nShri. Vijay Kumar Pattadakkall\, is gifted with an eye for details. He notices everything on the picture\, be that crumpled piece of paper on the ground or that small figure of a person out of place in the frame. He also knows how to take care of such anomalies in the picture and bring back that fine balance. It is no wonder that many leading photographers\, like Shri. TNA Perumal and Shri. M N Jayakumar\, had turned to Vijay to process their pictures for printing. Mr. Vijay had\, as a reciprocation of respect\, printed all the 50+ photographs of Shri. TNA Perumal that were displayed at Chitrakala Parishath during the YPS Tribute to TNA Perumal Contest and Exhibition held between April 28 and 30. \nShri. Vijay is also a keen nature photographer. On July 15th he will share some of pictures and also demonstrate post-processing techniques using Adobe Photoshop. \nHere are some of his images. \n \n

SUMMARY:Insights and Experiences on Travel Photography
DESCRIPTION:YPS Meet | July 8 | 6:30 PM | State Youth Centre\nSometimes I do get to places just when God’s ready to have somebody click the shutter – Ansel Adams \nOne of the charms of Travel Photography is that you never know what you can click\, even if you are traveling to the same place a hundredth time. But we\, photographers\, do want to travel to such places that have the potential to create opportunities to click. \nThe July 8th Open House has been converted to an extra YPS Meet to be able to bring you the expertise of Mr. Mohammed Arfan Asif\, a YPS Life Member and an internationally well-known photographer. He is also on the panel of Jury or the YPS International Salon. The presentation will describe and deliberate on the various attributes of Travel Photography. It attempts to present\, through images\, the various nuances of this genre of photography emphasizing on photographic approach\, planning and preparation. \nMohammed Aran Asif\nEFIAP/Silver\, EPSA\, ARPS\, FICS\, Hon. FICS\, Hon. FSWAN\, Hon. EFMPA\, Hon. FPSNJ\, Hon. BPP\, Hon. YPS \n \nMr. Mohammed Arfan Asif\, based out of Dubai\, is the Chapter Organizer of the Dubai Chapter of the Royal Photographic Society. He is also the Country Representative for ICSI and PSNJ. He has won more than 275 awards in National and International Salons. SUMMARY:How Close Can you Get
DESCRIPTION:YPS MEET | JUL 1 |  6:30 PM | State Youth Centre\nThere has been a big Macro Fever among the YPS Members. With the rains and the macro season being in full swing\, the team has been making regular visits to the Macro Hot-Spots in and around Bengaluru. This is the right time to get closer and enhance details.  That would be the focus of the next session. \n \nThere are many approaches to macro photography and plenty of techniques to enhance the details. All of them require the photographer to get closer to the subject\, we call it kissing distance. One of the new finds in the Macro group is Mr. Hayath Mohammad\, who has his unique way of capturing insects in closer range. We have been seeing him hopping around JP Nagar Forest and coming up with pictures having unimaginable amount of details. He has agreed to share his secrets with YPS team.  Do not miss the opportunity to learn. \nHayath Mohammed is a Technical Architect from IT Industry by profession and a nature enthusiast by passion. He grew up in the developing Bangalore and yet had access to some fabulous places rich in Flora and Fauna. Most of his summer holidays during childhood were spent chasing butterflies\, exploring various kinds of insects. The chase is still in progress. A keen interest in native fish of our land\, has helped document new species for describing.  He is Interested in all genres of photography. Nature photography\, especially Macro has been his passion for many years. He enjoys showcasing beauty that the naked eyes cannot see. \nHere are some of his pictures.
