SUMMARY:Adobe Lightroom - Overview
DESCRIPTION:YPS Meet | Apr 16 | Sun | 5:30 PM | Venkatappa Art Gallery\n*** Please note that this edition of YPS Meet will be held on Sunday at Venkatappa Art Gallery due to non-availability of venue on Saturday. \nOne of the challenges of the digital era\, is that every photographer should also become his/her own Digital Dark Room Specialist. Due to the inherent technical nature of the digital files\, they require processing to bring out the best image from them. \nThere are many experts in YPS Membership\, who have mastered post-processing using Photoshop. Adobe launched its first version of Lightroom in 2007. Over the last 10 years\, Lightroom has become the most trusted tool for professional photographers world-wide. The reason  for its popularity comes from its packaging of Catalog\, Image Editing\, Publishing and Printing functions into an easy to use tool. \nIn this session\, Arjun will provide an overview of Lightroom and its basic features. \nComing from a family of photographers\, Arjun Haarith had his interest in photography raised in early ages. He had been going out regularly with Satish and has developed keen skills in photography in the process. He is presently working as a Software Engineer in Adobe and is part of the team that builds and releases Lightroom. Adobe has provided credits to Arjun in the recent releases of Adobe. He was hired by Adobe because of his knowledge of software development and knowledge of photography. \nDo not miss the session.

SUMMARY:NATURE close-up by V Nagaraj
DESCRIPTION:YPS Meet | Dec 17 | 6:30 PM | State Youth Centre\nYPS organized a talk on Macro Photography on June 4th earlier this year and a Macro Workshop the following day. Since then the interest in Macro Photography has grown by leaps and bounds. \nWe all understand that success in Photography can be achieved only when we have a deep understanding of our subject\, in this case the ever evolving Insect World of NATURE. That is the reason for this YPS Meet. \nCan we explain the behaviour of a butterfly when it is arched over a leaf? Can we identify the specie and the name of a butterfly or dragonfly after photographing it ? The more we learn the more you will be wondering   about the close-up world of NATURE. You will learn this from Mr. V Nagaraj\, with an eternal passion for the Nature and to whom we all turn to if we have difficulty in identifying a butterfly or insect. \n \nBorn in Madanapalli\, Andhra Pradesh\, 1954\, Mr. Nagaraj was very passionate about  visual arts right from his young age. He did drawing and painting  since his childhood days.  Later he chose photography medium in the early 80s. He turned professional in 1990. \nMr. Nagaraj is a Self taught photo-artist\, inspired by Nature and influenced by works of great photographers like Irving Penn and William Albert Allard. He loves to work with  ambient light. He specialises in Nature and Travel photography. His work have been  published in various magazines\, books\, travel brochures and advertising campaigns. He always enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience. \n

SUMMARY:Water Drops Photography by Sudhakar G
DESCRIPTION:YPS Meet | Dec 3 | 6:30 PM | State Youth Centre\nEver wondered what happens when a drop of water hits a surface of water. If you have not noticed anything except some drops splashing around\, you are not alone. It is difficult to see what is happening because it happens so quickly that your eyes cannot see it happening. S G Neginhal\, IFS (Retd.)\, AFIAP\n“To achieve anything in life\, one must first work towards conserving nature. This is what I tried to do during my service. I consider bringing Project Tiger to Bandipur way back in the 1970s as my first achievement.”\, said Sri. Neginhal while accepting the 7th E. Hanumantha Rao Wildlife Photography Award in 2012. Without a doubt the wildlife conservation projects that he initiated and managed during service have saved many forests and endangered species and created awareness and opportunity. \nHe did his Diploma in Advanced Wildlife Management from FRI Dehradun and worked for 36 years with Karnataka Forest Department. He had managed all the sanctuaries we know today in Karnataka\, including Bandipur\, Nagarhole\, Ranganathittu and B R T. Apart from Bandipur\, he literally “discovered” Kokrebelur Pelicanry.  “It was sheer luck that I chanced upon the pelicans\, then an endangered species\, at a water body\, when I was coming back to Bangalore from Mysore”\, said Sri. Neginhal speaking of Kokrebelur. \nApart from these\, he also managed the Project on  “Conservation oriented Eco-Tourism at Daroji Sloth Bear Sanctuary”. Towards later part of his career he also worked for conservation of trees. He has several publications to his credit including Sanctuaries and Wildlife of Karnataka published in 2009.  \nWe feel honoured to honour Sri. Neginhal. \nSri. Vivek R Sinha\, FRPS\nSri. Vivek Sinha is a shining example of passion for wildlife photography. “Sri. Sinha’s interest in Wildlife Photography is in his blood”\, said Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam speaking of the work done by Sri. Sinha and his wife Smt. Arati Sinha.  Since childhood\, wildlife conservation and photography have been his over-powering fascination and he spends all his leisure and vacations in the jungles. His first interaction with wildlife was as a hunter\, but he soon put down the gun and\, instead took up a camera. His wife\, Arati\, has been his constant companion and partner in his favourite occupation. They have visited almost all the major parks and sanctuaries of India many times over. \nThe husband and wife team now devote full time to wildlife photography\, study of wildlife behaviour\, conservation\, and writing features on wildlife. He has written two books\, “The Tiger Is A Gentleman’\, and “The Vanishing Tiger” published by Salamander Books. London. He has given a number of talks on Wildlife in India and the USA. \nHis pictures have been widely published\, some on the cover of books. He was awarded Associate Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society in 1989 and the ‘Wildlife Photographer of the year 1992\, runner-up award’ in the International competition organized by BBC and British Museum of Natural History\, London. \nWe feel honoured to honour Sri. Vivek Sinha. \nSri. H N Allama Prabhu\, FRPS\, AFIAP\, AAPS\, AIIPC\, ASIIPC\n \nSri. Allama Prabhu is a dedicated wildlife photographer with many distinctions to his credit. As icing on the cake\, he also received the “Karnataka Rajyotsava Award” in 1989. He has more than 45 years of experience in the field of photography. Some of his popular works include\, the series on River Tern in various activities\, Egrets in flight and Wild Ass on the run in Rann of Kutch. His philosophy is to capture authentic wildlife coupled with artistic approach when it comes to Wildlife Photography. \nHe has to his credit 96 awards and certificates of merit along with 760 acceptances in International salons. He has over 385 awards and certificates of merit along with 1250 acceptances in National salons. He has guided many photographers to get recognition internationally over the years. \nHe is a pioneer in organizing wildlife workshops since 80’s to educate people in conservation of forests and environment. He began conducting numerous workshops on regular basis in Bandipur and Nagarhole along with other veteran photographers which attracted many enthusiasts all over India. He has been on the panel of judges for many National and International salons. \nBesides his personal achievements in photography\, he has been providing quality services in processing of films\, digital prints and Museum quality fine art prints for photographers globally over 35years. He has been internationally recognized by Kodak for his dedication and quality of services in photography. \nWe feel honoured to honour Sri. Allama Prabhu. \nWildlife Week\nIn the year 1952 with a view to preserve the fauna of India\, particularly to take urgent steps to prevent extinction of any species\, the Government of India established an Indian Board of Wild Life (IBWL).  The Board has since been doing pioneering work to arouse public consciousness in favour of wildlife preservation. \nFrom time immemorial\, our wildlife has been closely associated with our legendary beliefs and our folklores\, with our epics and our history. Our lives would be very much poorer without these varied forms that build up the balance of nature. Wildlife preservation in fact implies active and planned wildlife management under which all forms of life would progress side by side with human progress\, each in its own sphere of influence and utility and without any detriment to human interests. In fact\, it is with this end in view that wildlife sanctuaries and national parks have been established and developed in suitable localities all over the country. \nIn order to arouse a general awakening in the common man in favour of protection of wildlife\, the Indian Board of Wild Life (IBWL) decided to observe the Wildlife Week and since then from October 2 – 8 every year organize different activities related to wildlife conservation to commemorate this week. \nEvery year around this time (October 2 to 8) governments\, environmentalists\, activists\, educators organize different activities to accelerate the awareness of wildlife conservation among people. India\, being a mega-storehouse of various species\, is also able to manage several conferences\, awareness programmes\, and public meetings among the nature lovers. Schools and educational institutions organize events such as wildlife related movie screening\, painting competition/essay writing/ debate competition for young children with wild life as the theme. \nBangalore has the largest community of Wildlife Photographers. To celebrate wildlife and its conservation\, YPS will be celebrating Wildlife Week with a function on October 2nd.

SUMMARY:Views from the Top of the World - by B V Prakash
DESCRIPTION:YPS Hall | August 6\, Saturday | 6:30 PM\nOne of the benefits of Photography is that it is an art that touches all aspects of life. In the process of taking photographs\, we also earn a view of the life. What is life at the top of the world ? It would be interesting to learn from the person who had been on Himalayas many times. Questions like how one plans such trips\, what type of equipment would help to make great pictures without weighing you down\, how to handle the high dynamic lighting conditions on snow-clad mountains\, how does one manage to keep batteries going and many such questions will get answered in the next YPS Meet. Join us at YPS Hall\, Kanteerava Stadium on August 6\, Saturday at 6:30 PM to listen to the great experiences of Mr. B V Prakash\, YPS Life Member. \nMr. B V Prakash\n \nMr. B V Prakash spends more time on Himalayas than at his home. He left his plush job of a Bank Officer to pursue his interest of leading a life of adventure. He has climbed mountains in Himalayas\, trekked Western Ghats\, Andamans\, Thar desert and jungles of Borneo. \nHe was among the team of fourteen climbers who completed the “Mother of All Treks”\,  a 12 day trek covering 168 KM from Gangotri Glacier to Badrinath.  It reaches a height of 19\,400 feet with the route crossing a series of glaciers with deep crevasses\, boulders and freezing streams. After completing the trek\, Mr. Prakash said “I have seen enough snow this time”. \nHe is also a keen traveller\, most of the time alone. He has travelled all of India and neighbouring countries\, backpacked in South East Asia and Europe. Writing for newspapers & publications on Travel\, Adventure & Nature has been his pastime. He is a regular contributor to Deccan Herald & Sudha. \nHis achievements  were recognized by conferring on Mr. Prakash  Kempegowda Award in 2007.  He was  honoured  at the All India Kannada Sahitya Sammelana at Gadag in 2010 in addition to  many other  accolades & appreciations. \nFor promoting adventure\, he has served as instructor in adventure camps\, as Judge in climbing competitions and have also  conducted  numerous  slide shows & lectures  in various institutions. His most recent adventure was serving as a Camp Leader for the National Himalayan Trekking Programme in Himachal for a month. \nLast but not least\, Mr. Prakash is also keenly interested in Photography\, particularly Travel photography which started  as a result of his treks & travels. He attributes his learnings on Photography to his long association with YPS as a member. \nYou can find more information about some of his experiences from his blog titled “Treks and Travels” at  http://bvprakash.blogspot.in/. \nHere is Mr. Prakash in action: \n \nHere are some of his works:

SUMMARY:Salon Participation by Satish H & A K Raju
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, July 2\, 6:30 PM\, YPS Hall\nSalons\, Circuits\, Acceptances\, Certificates of Merit\, Participation Certificates\, Shortlists … What do they mean to a photographer? Salon is a French word standing for an exhibition by artists. Every month YPS Newsletter carries achievements and wins by YPS Members in Salons conducted around the world. YPS Website also carries information on upcoming salons by FIAP and others. I am sure that such news gives rise to many questions: \n\nWhat is a Salon?\nWhy do photographers participate in Salons?\nWhy do organizers conduct Salons?\nHow do the winners win?\nWhat is the selection process in such Salons?\nWhat types of pictures are accepted in Salons?\nHow do I make my pictures Salon-worthy?\nCan I win Salons?\n\nIf you want to get these questions answered\, join the YPS Meet on Salon Participation presented by Satish H\, President\, Youth Photographic Society. Satish keeps his Salon trophies on the attic for want of space to keep them in the show case. With over 400 wins in Salons and a huge experience of being a judge in many Salons\, there is no better person to conduct this program than Satish. \n SUMMARY:Pictorial Photography by K S Srinivasa
DESCRIPTION:Pictorial Photography\nYPS brought to you a taste of Portrait Photography facilitated by K S Srinivasa during the YPS 2016 Inauguration function. YPS also just concluded a very successful Macro Photography Talk and Workshop by Goutham Ramesh. Here is your next chance to listen to K S Srinivasa again on Pictorial Photography and see his significant work in this area. \n\n\n\n“Pictorialism – an approach to photography that emphasizes beauty of subject matter\, tonality\, and composition rather than the documentation of reality.” – Encyclopedia Britannica\n\n\n\nDo you wan to learn how to make everything from a street scene to a posing model look beautiful? Join the next YPS Meet on Pictorial Photography by K S Srinivasa. \n\n\n\nJune 18\, 2016\, Saturday\n6:30 PM – Assembling\n7:00 PM – Program Start\nYPS Hall\, Gate 3\, Kanteerava Stadium\, Bengaluru\n\n\n\nSrinivasa K S\, AFIAP\nSrinivasa is an artist by heart. He started his professional career as a photographer in 1993 by opening a studio in K R Puram in Bengaluru at the age of 22. \nHe joined YPS in 1996 and served as Secretary & Treasurer. During his 23 years of experience as a Photographer he has conducted many Pictorial and Portrait Workshops. \nHe has won many awards during his career including national level gold medal\, 40+ awards in national salons and 10+ awards in international salons. He achieved his AFIAP distinction from FIP\, Luxembourg for Pictorial Photography. He has published more than 150 articles on birds for the Kannada daily Kannada Prabha (under section Pakashikashi)\, Vijayavahini (under section Vanasiri) and others. \nHe has held solo exhibitions on Pictorial Photography and Nature Photography in Bengaluru. He also took part in the Art Show on  Fine Art Photography at Lalit Kala Academy. Some of the awards he cherishes are\, \n\n2014- “ Nadaprabhu Kempe Gowda Award “\n 2016- “ Karnataka Lalitakala Academy Award” – He was among 10 to receive the award from a collection of 950 art works submitted by 450 artists. He was the only person\, among the 10 selected\, to receive the award for photography.\n\nHere is a short collection of his work. See the rest at the YPS Meet. If you are wondering why there is a Bird picture among the collection\, it is because it is his painting\, not his photograph. His painting skills bring him a natural perspective about colors\, shades and composition and this is what you will learn in his workshop. \n Still life Portrait Pictorial-4 Pictorial-3 Pictorial-2 Pictorial-1 My painting -Water colour Children
