It is a well defined process to give photographers complete control of the process\, end to end\, right from capturing an image to the final print. \nIn this talk\, Mr Ashok Kandimalla will explain the usage of the Zone System in simple terms and discuss its relevance in the digital age. \n \nAbout the Speaker: \nMr Ashok Kandimalla\nMr Ashok Kandimalla has been in the field of photography for more than three decades and has extensive experience in both film and digital photography. As an electronics and computer engineer (he holds a degree in electronics from IIT Madras)\, he has a unique and deep insight into digital photographic technology. \nAshok has a passion for sharing his knowledge through teaching and writing. Starting from 2009\, Ashok has been authoring a series of articles under the title ‘Basics of Photography’ in the magazine – Smart Photography.  Many of his articles have also been published in the ‘Viewfinder’ which is the official journal of FIP.  He was also a co-editor for the FIP’s Sapphire Jubilee Viewfinder book. So far\, he has published more than 200 articles plus equipment reviews in various leading Indian photography magazines. \nAshok has also conducted more than 100 workshops and photography courses for several corporate customers (Honeywell\, Bank of America\, Infosys\, etc.) and UNESCO. Currently\, he conducts workshops and classes regularly at Mindscreen Film Institute (MFI)\, Chennai. He was the President of Telangana Photographic Society in 2018. He was also an invited speaker at the FIP Convention in Rajahmundry \nAshok has been interviewed and featured on the Nikon Japan Centenary website for his contributions to photography. The session includes live demonstrations with different subjects to provide hands-on learning for participants. \n \nAbout the Presenter: Mr Raghuram Annadana \n \nRaghuram Annadana’s passion  for macro and close-up photography spans many years. His expertise lies in crafting immersive and intimate visual narratives of tiny life forms in-situ\, using high-magnification photography techniques. He started photography in the year 2011 under the guidance of Sri. Suresh Basavaraju. \nHe has done birding not only in Karnataka but has visited Tamil Nadu\, Kerala\, Goa\, Maharashtra\, Gujarat\, Rajasthan\, Jammu and Kashmir\, Himachal Pradesh\, Sikkim\, Uttarakhand\, West Bengal\, Uttar Pradesh\, Assam and Orissa.  \nHe has also visited Sri Lanka\, Bhutan\, Kenya\, Botswana\, Zambia\, Costa Rica\, Ecuador\, Peru\, Cambodia\, Vietnam and USA for wildlife photography. \nSo far he has photographed over one thousand  species of birds of the Indian Sub continent and about seven hundred species around the world. \nWildlife has always fascinated him. It all started when he was just 8-years old. His father had taken him to watch the movie\, Hatari\, a film completely based in Africa. Since then\, it had been his dream – to visit Africa. Its wildlife that got him first\, photography happened much later. \nOnly after a wildlife trip with his friend\, a photographer\, was he intrigued by the art of photography. Though he was using a basic DSLR back then\, a few moments in the forest with a camera is all it took to get him hooked for life.  An avid birder today\, he travels looking for specific species of birds across India and the world.  He has traveled extensively across the country except Northeast.  A lot of his work has been published in NGC Traveller\, and BNHS book of Birds of Maharashtra. The presentation will cover a short history of the genre and bust misconceptions about it. It will also aim to show through images of the great practitioners the width and breadth of this art form. The presentation will be followed by Q&A. \n \nAbout the Speaker: \nMr Subash Rao\nSubash Chandra Rao has been a practising travel\, street photographer and photo educator. He started his photography journey in the year 2002. He has also been a professor for over a decade in various universities and colleges and has taught photography at the Post Graduate level. He says “I have always been a traveller\, adventurer\, and experience junkie. I began taking photos in college because I wanted to record and share my explorations. Now I go on adventures with the main purpose of taking photos. When I’m not creating\, I enjoy teaching and sharing.” \n For him\, it has been a dream to be able to combine photography with teaching. After completing his mandatory training at Chandrapura\, Maharashtra\, he joined the Forest Department.\n\nPrasad took to photography in 1992 and has earned ARPS & AFIAP distinctions. His photographs were featured in the Biennial Photography World Cup competitions in different countries. DESCRIPTION:YPS Saturday Meet | Mar 04\, Sat | 6:00 PM IST | State Youth Center\nLiquid Drop photography is a genre of high speed photography to create stunning and colorful images of water droplets in the formation of mushrooms\, umbrellas and abstracts. During this slideshow and live demonstration\, Ananth Kamat would be sharing his knowledge he acquired from his mentor Mr Deep Bhatia over the last few months. \n\nAbout the Presenter: Mr Ananth Kamat \nMr Ananth Kamat EFIAP\, EFIP\, cMoL is a Software Engineer by profession\, and based in Bengaluru. He has been a proud member of YPS since 2016\, with the support and mentorship of YPS members\, he started upskilling himself in the art of photography with special interest in Macro and Travel photography. \nAnanth is an active participant in salons and contests and has won over 850 acceptances and 75 awards in national and international salons. His nature and travel photographs have been exhibited in over 30 countries and he has been honored with EFIAP\, EFIP and cMoL distinctions. He has also represented YPS in several inter-club contests and won awards in travel and creative sections. His work ‘Upside-Down’ was chosen among the top 100 photos at Nature in Focus 2019 contest and was exhibited at palace grounds. \nAnanth strongly believes in sharing his learnings and encourages others to pursue their passion for photography. He has conducted multiple sessions on ‘Basics of Photography’ at his workplace for photography enthusiasts. His presentation titled ‘Mundane to Magnificent’ at YPS Saturday Meet\, and a subsequent featured article in Dṛṣṭi was loved by all YPS members. He was also a guest speaker at ‘Neralu Belaku’\, a Kannada photography discussion forum on Clubhouse\, and spoke about the nuances of travel photography. \nAnanth was inspired by the works of Mr Deep Bhatia and joined his online course on Basics of Droplet Photography. DESCRIPTION:YPS Saturday Meet | Feb 18\, Sat | 6:30 PM IST | State Youth Center\nAviation photography in India primarily has two faces: the civil airlines spotting and military aviation photography.  Civil airlines spotting is relatively widespread as the complications of clearance process is not much cumbersome whereas the military aviation photography has its own difficulties in getting the right channel for clearance. Military aviation photography has something to do with national security as the flying machines operate in  classified airbases.  Unless\, the operators like IAF or IN or IA invites known contacts to photograph specific events\, the opportunities are quite slim.  However\, through proper approach\, one can obtain clearance for events like Air Force Day parades\, Aero India or public displays by IAF’s aerobatic teams. \nThe scene outside India is much better\, reasons  being simpler policies of respective design houses.  Thus\, the international air shows like singapore\, Dubai\, RIAT etc.\, have been more attractive. \nThe aim of this presentation has the sole purpose of underlining the difficulties and various aspects of photographing military planes. It hovers around the strict clearance process one has to go through. \n \nAbout the Speaker:  Mr Debadatta Maharana \nMr Debadatta Maharana is a graduate in Aeronautical engineering from Aeronautical Society of India and has done his masters in software systems engineering from BITS\, Pilani. Photographing military aircrafts has been a hobby which started in the year 2008.  He was handed  over a DSLR to take some photographs during one of his assignments and  he had no  clue on taking photographs of aircrafts. Journey continued and since then\, he has travelled to lots of air force stations across India and to a solo international airshow in Bahrain in 2016. During this journey he has  made friends from all ages of life starting from a young flight lieutenant fresh out of flying academy to Air Commodores and higher with bigger profiles. All thanks to the love to capture aircrafts. Each one of them had different stories to tell. Some were photographers\, some adventurous trekkers and some bike riders! Nevertheless\, everybody intended to visit Ladakh in their lifetime. I used to wonder ‘what there is in store for a photo artist like me?  ‘mera number kab aayega’? And lo and behold\,  I too got an opportunity to take some of my friends to a landscape photography workshop to ‘The Land of Lamas-LADAKH’. \nLadakh is a landscape lover’s paradise. January to December has different lighting for landscapes. I feel a trip to Ladakh is a religious trip for landscape photographers. The dream of every photo artist is to get these beautiful mountains in a different play of light. The urge to play is natural to any child\, but to play with light and bring forth beautiful images at the age of 12 is sheer prodigy. It is this gift of nature that made him take up cinematography in his academic stint. It was during his graduation that he started to capture nature in all its glory\, naturally  flowed appreciation and awards in both nature and pictorial sections of photography contests the world over. \nHe is the first Indian to be honoured with EFIAP and MFIAP in Nature colour prints; one of the highest honours in the photographic world. \nHe is the first Indian to get Two Masters from world bodies of photography in Nature photography. \nHe served as Secretary and Vice President in Youth Photographic Society\, which is a premier photography club in India. However\, it is so that we do not have a good portrait of ourselves but only a passport photo taken ages ago which we keep circulating forever.  \nThis Saturday\, let us learn how to shoot a decent portrait\, self or of some good soul.  \nPortraits are not just about creating pixels and storing them in a storage device but a way to portray what and who the subject is\, in other words\, giving life to it. And we can only get/capture such portraits when we ‘know’ the person standing in front of the lens. So this session\, being the last session of 2022\, let us meet all\, understand each other and get to capture a good portrait or get captured! I had no idea that my hobby of clicking would take me here today. Photography has changed my vision of seeing things. \nIt was when I was in Hyderabad as a software engineer\, that I took up photography seriously. Right after my engineering I was selected for one of the MNCs and post-training I was posted to Hyderabad. Bengaluru\, being my hometown\, was my choice of preference but somewhere I believe that what happens is for good and photography is the best thing that happened to me. Working as an IT professional and being in front of the computer all the time\, photography was something that was most exciting and relaxing. With time I have understood and believe that photography is not just about picking up a camera\, start hitting the shutter. It is something much beyond it. If I’m asked to define photography I would say it is an art of capturing the subject in front of you in the most creative way. I like taking portraits\, landscapes and abstracts and prefer shooting in monochrome as it touches my heart and soul.
