SUMMARY:YPS Saturday Meet – What is Photojournalism?
DESCRIPTION: YPS Saturday Meet | August 06\, Sat | 6:30 PM IST | State Youth Centre\nPhotojournalism\, a very popular genre in photography\, is the process of storytelling\, using the medium of photography as the main storytelling device. While a journalist uses a pen and paper to tell stories\, a photojournalist uses the camera to capture a visual representation of a story.  Naveen\, the founder of the international photography magazine\, ‘The Light Down’ will take us through the streets of Photojournalism.\n\n\n\nAbout the Presenter: Mr Naveen\nNaveen is a photographer who loves to capture the action on the street. He also loves making documentaries and black and white photography. He started his journey in 2017 and worked with India’s most respected news network\, the India Today Network for two years. He then gave up his job in 2019 and started his own organisation with the aim to create a platform for beginner photographers. SUMMARY:An Introduction to Street Photography
DESCRIPTION:YPS Saturday Online Meet | August 27\, Sat 5:30 PM IST | S2 E3\nSuresh\, will start with a short presentation that will introduce the audience to the genre of street photography. The presentation will cover a short history of the genre and bust misconceptions about it. It will also aim to show through Suresh’s own images\, the width and breadth of this art form. The presentation will be followed by  Q&A.  \nPlease ask all questions you have been wanting to\, after the presentation. \nAbout the Speaker \nMr. Suresh Naganathan \n \nBorn in Switzerland in 1980\, Suresh moved back to India\, his parents’ country of origin\, in 2008. Overwhelmed by the sounds\, colors\, and overbearing human presence in this new environment after 28 years in calm Switzerland\, he picked up the camera in 2014 to make sense of all the chaos surrounding him. \nOver the last few years\, he has been exploring the streets of the world and of his home city\, Mumbai. Wherever he goes\, the camera is an integral part of him. He uses it to both explore the world around him as well as his own self. \nHis works have been published in Creative Image magazine\, Eyeshot magazine and World Street Photography book. He was among the photographers invited to contribute to the book “11 Top Street Photographers”\, edited by Lynn Smith.
