The presentation captures the profound faith and extraordinary human experience of the Maha Kumbh Mela, which attracted over 500 million pilgrims in just 45 days, making it the largest gathering of people on the planet. Through his compelling photographs, Namas explores the scale, spirituality, and emotions that define this remarkable event.

Namas Bhojani

A Bangalore-based photographer, Namas Bhojani is a freelance photojournalist who undertakes assignments across the Indian subcontinent and overseas. He was photo editor of the newly launched Business Today magazine in the early 1990s. Over the years, he has photographed for leading international publications, including Forbes, Marie Claire, TIME, Newsweek, Bloomberg News, The New York Times, Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, Stern, Der Spiegel, and numerous other American and European publications.

Namas has sailed down the Mekong River to document life along its banks and three other Southeast Asian countries. His journalistic assignments have also included the families of suicidal farmers in Vidarbha, President Rajapaksa in Sri Lanka, Aung San Su Kyi in Myanmar, and Nobel Laureate Prof. Muhammad Yunus in Bangladesh.

Namas has also built an outstanding reputation in fashion and lifestyle photography, producing high-quality fashion spreads, interiors, gourmet food features, and lifestyle assignments that reflect his versatility across editorial genres. He was the Photo Editor of Cosmopolitan India when it was launched with fashion works.

His book on the city of Bombay, titled Bombay-A Contemporary Account of Mumbai, was published by HarperCollins in 1990. A large-format, hardbound volume dominated by powerful photographic narratives, the book remains an important visual record of the city’s contemporary life
