The final episode of YPS Nenapugalu is really important and a special one for us. Till now we have met almost all the wonderful souls who are reason for YPS’ success. In this episode we will be meeting four Wonder Women who weren’t part of EC, but still stood by their husband and gave full support.
This episode it is all about supportive spouses behind the scene.

Let’s meet this Sunday, 6 Feb, 2022 where our president H Satish will be in conversation with these wonder women at YPS Nenapugalu.

She served as Lecturer/Professor/Head of the department at Government GAS College

Maharanis Science & Arts College, Bengaluru, Govt. College for Women Kolar. Served as Principal at Hesaraghatta and Maharani’s Science College, Bengaluru, Served as Joint Director of Collegiate Education Govt. of Karnataka , at departments Central office, Bengaluru and retired in July 2012.
Her collection of Poems:  : Sanketa, Chaitra, Agnikunda , Jeevanmukhi, Jenugudu,Suvarna Sambhrama, Mavu Bevu.
Her other books : Nadoja Prof. Kamala Hampana Hejjegaau-80, Mudra Manjusha(Translation), Mohana Tarangini ( Consized Translation), Dr.Kamala Hampana Hejje Guruthu- Biography.
Her Poems were published in Prajavani,Vijaya Karnataka, Udayavani, Samyukta Karnataka, Taranga, Tushara, Sudha, Mayura,Karmaveera, Priyanka, Surya etc., Literary Articles/ Poems in Sadhana Bengaluru ,University Publication, Shudra, Sankramana etc.,
She has received Doctorate in Kannada for the thesis-ADHUNIKA KANNADA KAVIGALA KAVYA JIGNASE ONDU ADHYAYANA under the guidance of NADOJA Dr. KAMALA HAMPANA. This Thesis has been Published as a book by KARNATAKA KANNADA SAHITYA PARISHAD. Two students were guided by Shanthalakshmi for the Phd and they successfully got a Phd.

Smt. Shaila V Hegde

Shaila V Hegde Profile Picture

Born on 31st July 1951, Shaila V Hegde is the daughter of late Shri V G Hegde Kaikatkeri, practicing lawyer at Honnavar and then Karwar district court, also a Notary Public.
Mrs. Shaila Hegde’s mother was late Smt Girija Hegde, who studied PUC in English medium those days and was fluent in English, Kannada, Konkani, Marathi, and Hindi, a social worker, President of Honnavar Mahila Sangha. She was also elected as a Taluk Board Member. Shaila had primary education at Gokak, North Karnataka and later studied up to B.Sc at Honnavar. Immediately after, she took up a Postal Department job as Postalc Assistant at Karwar.
She got married to Shri K S Rajaram in January 1977. The couple shifted to Delhi as Mr. Rajaram was already working with BHEL New Delhi since 1972. 

Rajaram was already a hobby artistic photographer and was a member of the Foto Arte group (FAG) Delhi since 1972. He had good associations with Dr. O.P.Sharma (head of Foto Arte Group), Nissar Bharti, Padmashri T Kashinath, SS Sharma, and other eminent photographers of Delhi region . He was already a salon exhibitor by then. Shaila developed contacts with most of those photographers along with Rajaram became interested in photography as an art. In the next year, they shifted to Bangalore as Rajaram got transferred to BHEL Bangalore. Eminent photographer Dr. D V Rao was instrumental in introducing Rajaram to Mr. M S Hebbar, President of YPS at that time. Rajaram joined YPS and was active in conducting workshops and other activities, apart from Salon participation.

Thejas K R (son) and Rajalekha K R (daughter) were born subsequently. They also became interested in  photography as Shaila took them to most of the YPS Programmes, Salon Judging sessions and such other lectures and demonstration activities. Being a busy executive with BHEL, Rajaram was most of the time touring to Delhi, Bombay, and Chennai. During this time, Shaila used to concentrate in bringing up kids and also guiding them. Though her Postal employment continued in Bangalore, after a few years, she left the job and fully concentrated upon children’s education and family welfare. She also supported Rajaram for his photographic activities. She was instrumental in contacting
many press and media for publishing photographs of Rajaram in supplements and periodicals as Rajaram used to get time only on weekends due to his busy official duties.

When children grew up, she took special training from Keonics as a lady entrepreneur and started a company called Nisha Kiran private limited, manufacturing Emergency lights .She had to wind it up after a few years due to lack of marketing support from Keonics. As her original interest was in education and teaching, she took up studies with RV Teachers Training institution and got her B.Ed and further, the Masters degree in Creative Education. She took up Lecturer job in a few educational institutions and later became interested in teaching air travel-related courses. She obtained a diploma in IATA (International Air Traffic Association) in Distinction and became a faculty member in Armen Tours and Travels. She also published course syllabus books for Armen Institution on Air Travel-related studies. in parallel, she was also interested in formal education and published course book on the new age – teaching Mathematics for Prism publications. From her Educational training background, she has been a good counsel to needy young enthusiasts and supported quite a few of them even financially to come up fairly well. For three poor girl students who have now got in to college studies, she
has been sponsoring study expenses and offer useful guidance right from their initial school days.

Her son and daughter got into Computer Science Engineering courses. To support then, she left her teaching courses. She devoted full time to her children to complete
their education as well as attend to their other interests like photography and Music. As regards her contribution to the field of photography, apart from guidance given by Rajaram to both their son and daughter, during his absence, she was taking them to
most of the photography programs of YPS such as lectures, exhibitions and workshops. This made them to acquaint themselves with art of photography right from my school days. They continued their hobby equally well when they took up jobs too. They have been developing well as photo artists and also as office-bearers in local photography clubs in those countries. Both of them are Life Members of YPS and participate regularly through YPS Salon Group too. Initially, after returning from Delhi, she also along with Rajaram associated with Dr D V Rao, Dr G Thomas, C Rajagopal, E Hanumanthrao, B S Sundaram, T N A Perumal, M S Hebbar, and other eminent photographers through YPS. Although she was not a Salon participant, she observed and learnt many of the camera techniques, artistic parameters of good photography and shared her knowledge with her children and others about developing good artistic Photography skills. In her younger days, she had learnt Hindustani music from her mother and also plays Harmonium. When her children were growing up, she organized Hindustani music classes for them from the late Pandit Sheshadri Gawai and later by Pandit Manjunath ji. She also learnt music from Pandit Manjunath ji.
She developed art of writing short stories and poems in Kannada In the recent years,. In the monthly Kannada Short story Contests of Sowhardha Supta chetana Group and in Photo Poems Contests of Sagara Photographic Society held in the year 2020 she has won several awards

 

Smt. Sowmya P Kumar

Sowmya has  a graduate in B.Com from Bangalore University and holds Diploma in Theatre from MES Rangashale She has attended drama workshops conducted by eminent Theater personalities like Prof.B.Chandrashekhar, Shri.H.V. Venkata  Subbaiah and Shri. Gopala Krishna Nairy at the prestigious M.E.S. College of arts, Commerce and Science, Malleswaram, Bangalore during the years 1985-1990 and actively involved  in the productions of ‘JAANARE’ ‘SANJE MAHAMANE’, ‘BHAGAVADDAJUKEEYA’, ‘MADHYAMA VYAYOGA.’  Directed the play ‘GAANDHARI’  in the year 1987 and won the Best Director Award. Directed the play ‘APPA’ in the year 1988 and won the best Actress Award.  Directed the play ‘ABOLINA’ in the year 1989 and won the Best actress and best director award.Directed the play‘ASHADALLONDU DINA’ and won the Best stage setting award during the year 1988 at the State level inter Collegiate theatre competition. Acted in T.P. Kailasam’s ‘HUTTADALLI HUTTA’ and won Best supporting actress for the year 1990 at the ‘KAILASAM  NAATAKOTSAVA’, a state level  competition.Choreographed dance for the play ‘SOOLE’, which won the Best  Drama award, in “KAILASAM NAATAKOTSAVA”,in the year 1996.Designed Costumes for the play ‘THAYI’ in the year 1997.  Directed the play ‘YAKSHA JANAMEJAYA’ in the year 2004 for State level inter collegiate theater competition for M.E.S  Junior college. Has also directed plays for M.L.A. college and Mount Carmel college. Conducted Theater Workshops for Vidya Vardhaka Sangha High School, Bangalore in the year 1999 and Sri Vani Vidya Kendra, Rajajinagar, Bangalore in the year 2000.  Completed Diploma in the theater at prestigious M.E.S. RANGA  SHAALE  and actively involved in the activities of the RANGA SHAALE. Been a judge in various inter-school, inter-college, state level and industrial drama competitions. Has also directed a play by Bendre named ‘SAAYO AATA’ for the students of Century Film Institute.Has directed plays Karnataka Vybhava, maadigara hudugi, Samaritan mahile Kerege haara, puksatte salahe  for mount Carmel college.Conducted online theater workshop for mount carmel degree college during 20-2021.Has acted in giliyu panjaradolilla, huttidu holeyuru, Antigone .Written articles about theater and interviewed theater persons for the theater magazine.Anchored many dance Rangapravesha and  sugama sangeetha programmes.

        She also has acted in about 20 Kannada serials for Bangalore Doordarshan. Auditioned artiste of Bangalore Doordarshan and All India Radio. Actively involved in Nature conservation Activities and currently working as the coordinator of ‘PRAKRUTI CREATION’ which is an organization dedicated to spread the message of conservation of Forests, Wildlife and for the Promotion of Art and Culture. Under the banner of Prakruti Creations photography exhibition titled Wild Wonders, Vanishing Stripes were conducted at Bangalore Belgaum, Mysore. A unique exhibition of The Masters and Fellows titled Chaya Vishishta, was also conducted.  Two inter high school competitions were also held under Prakruti Creations. The guards and drivers at Bandipur and Nagarhole were given clothing for the rainy and winter season under this organization.

Smt. Manjula Satish

Manjula was born in A small village-Cheemangala, in Sidlaghatta Taluk. Her parents are from Agricultural background, Father Shri.Rama Rao was a Panchayath President, and Mother Smt.Venkamma Was a homemaker. Manjula was the 10th and youngest child, and 7th daughter in the family.

She studied at a local Govt school till primary and later from High school, studied at Bangalore and graduated in B.com from PES college. She had the Habit of reading Story books in Kannada, and particularly interested in Kannada novels, written by very well-known writers. She was amazingly interested in Cricket and knew every player and had seen most of the matches on TV., along with this watching all sports, was a pass time.

She never knew about Photography, trekking, traveling until she married H. Satish in 1991. The Luck changed then onwards, and now she is the most traveled lady in the family, having seen more than 60% of India. Her activity is watching Animal planet, Nat geo, Travel channels, and have a very vast knowledge about the places, and culture of the world. Thanks to these channels, which made her more knowledgeable.

She has undergone trekking training in YHAI and has trekked in few places in Himalayas, like Chandrakani pass, in Himachal, Thunganath and Khaliya top in Uttarakhand. She loves nature a lot and loves to visit forests and Himalayas, more than Beaches and malls.

She says, very fortunate to have joined Satish’s family, where everyone loves traveling and nature. She is also a very good cook, and loves serving guests at home at Places where there is opportunity. She travels with her Husband H. Satish and son Akshay harith.

She has a very keen interest in writing poetry in Kannada and has written many Kavana’s and stories about the individual characters who came in her Life. She writes Kavana on any subjects that interest her. Her Kavana have been published in few Online magazines.
