Kulasai Dasara is celebrated on the tenth day after the new moon in the month of purattasi, according to the Tamil calendar (Sept/Oct). Mysore Dasara stands first in its grandeur and the second place is held by Kulasai Dasara . More than 1.5 million people gather at the 300 year old Sri Mutharamman Temple, located in Kulasekharapatnam near Thiruchendur in Tamil Nadu. Devotees come from far and wide on foot, wearing exotic costumes as if they were the incarnations of Gods and Goddesses. On the climatic day, the sea shores of this coastal village turns into a carnival of folk music and dance where devotees in their chosen costume solicit the grace of and express gratitude for boons granted by the presiding deity, Sri Muthramman.

Karnataka Rajyothsava or Kannada Day, also known as Karnataka Formation Day or Karnataka Day, is celebrated on 1 November of every year.
This was the day in 1956 when all the Kannada language-speaking regions of South India were merged to form the state of Karnataka
The celebrations are not limited to the 1st of November but continue through the month of November. YPS, as part of celebrating this momentous day has embarked on presentations by our members on all Saturdays through the month during the YPS SATURDAY MEET.
On Saturday, 7th November, we are fortunate to have our president Sri. H. Satish presenting to us Karnataka Vaibhava – A memoir of Karnataka’s Grandeur, a bird’s eye view of the treasures of Karnataka through his mesmerizing photographs taken through the years.

To stand out in the crowd and have your own style, Perspective is most important and it can indeed be perplexing! Who better than Mr Ashok Kandimalla, an engineer turned photographer, writer and teacher to show us the art of representing three dimensional objects on a two dimensional surface so as to create a unique image.
His presentation deals with perspective which is quite obvious to everyone yet puzzling. It is often confused as distortion. This presentation brings out how perspective affects your images and how to exploit its properties.
He says “If you ask a question, you are a fool for five minutes, if you don’t ask, you are a fool for the rest of your life.”
Here is an opportunity to flood him with all the perplexing questions and clear confusions.

Sri K S Rajaram is an artist, exhibitor, speaker trainer and columnist in the area of photography. He writes regularly on the topics related to art photography. He has authored the image analysis feature ‘CHOWKATTU’ for the Kannada daily “Prajavani” for over 3 years. A life member and a director of YPS, he has served YPS in various capacities, including that of President, Vice-president, Director and Salon Chairman. He is the founder director of Sagara Photographic Society (SPS), Sagara. He has been a faculty member and organizer of various photography workshops.
