Whispers Of The City

YPS Saturday Meet | Jun 21, Sat | 5:30 PM IST | Street Photography | Google Meet

Presentation by:  Thejas K R

The streets do not lie, and neither should your camera, whether you are prowling the back alleys of your hometown or stepping off a plane into a city that smells like spices and sounds like a foreign symphony. Street photography is like being a detective with a lens instead of a badge, hunting for truth in the shadows between buildings from Detroit to Delhi, in the face of a Houston commuter lost in thought, in the weathered hands of a black vendor sewing baskets with his rough hands at the end of a long day.  Real street photography cuts deep, revealing the universal pulse of humanity that separates the tourists with cameras from the truth-tellers with vision. Street photographers move like smoke through crowds in any culture, capture light like you are stealing fire from the gods of every latitude, and frame moments that locals and visitors alike are too busy or too scared to notice.

About the presenter: Thejas K R

Thejas is very passionate about photography and has AFIP and AFIAP honors. He primarily shoots landscapes, portraits, street scenes and events.  He uses street photography as a way to engage with people and learn more about life.

Also, he dabbles in various other things.  He has done a bit of modeling during Bengaluru days for a contact of Prasad Bidappa.  Also, he has acted in a movie.  His role in the movie was that of a rich but nice second hero, who does not end up getting the heroine.  The movie did not get released and Thejas is thankful that his overacting skills were not exposed to the world.  Someday he plans to write a book about it.

He likes public speaking and has been certified as a Competent Communicator as well as a Competent Leader by Toastmasters International.

Thejas loves to read books, both fiction and nonfiction.  He reads about 50+ books a year that help shape his creativity, curiosity, and spirituality.
