About The Speaker
Mr Nandakumar Narasimhan
Nanda is a photographer based in Singapore and runs a photography school (phocus.com.sg) where he conducts short workshops for hobbyists and amateurs in basic photography, both on digital and film cameras. Although most of his commercial work is done on digital, Nanda still shoots all his personal work on film. It has nothing to do with the quality of the images but the pure joy it brings him in being able to control every aspect of the image making process from the click of the camera to watching the print appear under the red safe light in the darkroom.
He leads photo tours to different parts of the world in small groups where he likes to share his approach to experiential travel photography. Rather than everyone recreate an image that is popular on Instagram, Nanda pushes his participants to let their personal experiences shape their photography and the stories that come from the pursuit of this art form.
