Rohinton Mehta, a living encyclopedia and a genious on art and science of photographic techniques. Uncle Ronnie, as the world calls him, is the Technical Editor of Smart Photography, India’s #1 imaging magazine, and you can’t miss his regular column “Ask Uncle Ronnie”.
It’s an honor for YPS to host Mr. Rohinton Mehta, and this is a golden opportunity for you to get ANY of your questions/doubts/queries answered by Uncle Ronnie.

Mr Rohinton Mehta

Mr. Rohinton Mehta started serious photography as a hobby in 1973. He is a self-taught photographer. (The only professional training that he had was sometime in 1978 when he did a small course in Industrial Photography under the guidance of the late Mitter Bedi).

Born in 1945, he hated, but persevered to finish his studies and had a successfull career with Voltas from 1963-1995. He was very involved in music, eventually gave that up for his better love … “Photography”!

He was appointed as an honorary teacher of photography at The Photographic Society of India (PSI) in 1975, where he taught at a stretch for over 35 years. He also taught a photography module to the students of photojournalism at XIC (Xavier Institute of Communication) in Mumbai for 12-13 years. He taught photography to students of a well-known photography school over the years, students include folks from all walks of life — anyone interested in learning!

Currently, he is the Technical Editor of Smart Photography magazine, published every month from Mumbai.

Though Rohinton is conversant with most genres of photography, his first love is Landscapes, followed by Wildlife and Street photography.

He is an honorary member of FIP, The Photographic Society of India, and, The Photographic Society of Pune.

Some Google Meet Self-Disciplines to be followed to make the experience memorable for everyone:

• Do not interrupt when something is being presented. Keep a note of questions and ask them at the end when moderator opens the floor for questions.
• Keep your lines muted when not talking or asking questions.
• Keep your question and discussions brief and to the point.
• If you cannot get the required answer in two discussions, take them offline with the panel member.
