Underwater Photography – genres, gear, techniques & more

January 10 @ 7:00 pm 9:00 pm UTC+5.5

Presentation by:
Mr Vandit Kalia

From staying for a month at the base of an active volcano, to diving in the middle of sharks feeding on byproducts from a fish factory, Vandit Kalia spends a lot of time each year chasing unique underwater images.  In this talk, he shares some of his favourite images across various genres of underwater photography,  the techniques/equipment used to achieve those images and how trying to make those images helped him connect more deeply with the magic of the underwater world.

About: Vandit Kalia

Diving since 1991 and a scuba instructor since 2001,  Vandit Kalia is one of the most experienced dive professionals in the country.   A finance MBA from Wharton, he quit a consulting career in the US and moved to Havelock to start Diveindia, India’s largest dive center and the pioneer of diving in the Andamans – virtually all the top sites of the region were found by him and his team.     An avid wildlife and nature photographer, he’s been shooting underwater since 2006, and is currently on a mission to get behavioural shots of as many shark species as he can – especially hammerheads.
