ELEGANCE OF GLASSWARE – Dark-field & Bright-field Photography Workshop

YPS Workshop | Jun 16, 2024 | 10AM – 6PM | State Youth Centre

Last day for registration Jun 9, 2024

Glass is considered one of the most challenging subjects to photograph. The reason for this is the transparency and the reflective nature of glass. It is very essential to understand the lighting techniques to photograph glass in an effective manner. The lighting can be done in two different ways. Namely bright field and dark field techniques. Once the challenge of lighting has been overcome, photographing glass gives immense joy.

Join us to dive deep into the challenging and joyous world of glassware photography.

About the Workshop

Participants will be tutored on the set up and all the gear that will be required for this genre. Backgrounds also play an important role and the material needed to achieve this will be revealed. As this would be more of an indoor form of photography, we would encourage participants to experiment with the knowledge gained in their respective homes. Emphasis will be laid on the usage of flashes as they play a major role in this genre of photography and in “off” camera. This is further related to the usage of ‘wireless triggers’ to activate the flashes remotely. Participants will also understand about the setting up of the camera when using flashes. This workshop will also “throw the floor open” to all participants to shoot glassware under the guidance of the mentor.

About Mr Girish Mayachari

Girish Mayachari has been pursuing photography for over 2 decades. Starting off his journey as a landscape photographer during his treks, he later on tried his hands in various genres including macro, bird, wildlife, fashion, portraiture, still life / table top, travel and fine art photography to name a few. After attending a Glassware photography workshop organized by YPS and conducted by Mr. Vinod Sunder, he started experimenting with glassware in an attempt to create unique images. Utilising some of the tools and techniques in Photoshop resulted in images that were not only unique but also brought joy. He continues to experiment with various elements like smoke, water and fire along with glassware in an attempt to create artistic images.
