August 19 is globally recognized as World Photography Day, commemorating the art, science, and history of photography. This day traces its origins to 1837, when French inventors Louis Daguerre and Joseph Nicéphore Niépce developed the first photographic process – the Daguerreotype

At YPS, we proudly celebrate this occasion year after year with exhibitions, contests, and activities to honor members’ creative contributions to photography.

This year, on August 23rd and 24th, we bring for you:

Whispers Of The City

YPS Saturday Meet | Jun 21, Sat | 5:30 PM IST | Street Photography | Google Meet

Presentation by:  Thejas K R

The streets do not lie, and neither should your camera, whether you are prowling the back alleys of your hometown or stepping off a plane into a city that smells like spices and sounds like a foreign symphony. Street photography is like being a detective with a lens instead of a badge, hunting for truth in the shadows between buildings from Detroit to Delhi, in the face of a Houston commuter lost in thought, in the weathered hands of a black vendor sewing baskets with his rough hands at the end of a long day.  Real street photography cuts deep, revealing the universal pulse of humanity that separates the tourists with cameras from the truth-tellers with vision. Street photographers move like smoke through crowds in any culture, capture light like you are stealing fire from the gods of every latitude, and frame moments that locals and visitors alike are too busy or too scared to notice.

With real-world examples and practical insights, the presentation and talk aims to inspire participants to uncover beauty that’s normally hidden from the naked eye
