World Photography Day Celebration -FRAMES 2025 – PANORAMA: Widen your World

Exhibition of Prints | On The Spot Shoot, Share & Win | 23-24, August 2025 | 11 AM to 6 PM | Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath

August 19 is globally recognized as World Photography Day, commemorating the art, science, and history of photography. This day traces its origins to 1837, when French inventors Louis Daguerre and Joseph Nicéphore Niépce developed the first photographic process – the Daguerreotype

There can be no celebration without member participation. We all take many pictures and post them on digital platforms. But nothing comes close to a print, framed and displayed in the prominent and prestigious gallery, The Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath!

At YPS, we proudly celebrate this occasion year after year with exhibitions, contests, and activities to honor members’ creative contributions to photography.

This year, on August 23rd and 24th, we bring for you:

‘FRAMES 2025 – Panorama: Widen your World’

Exhibition of Member’s pictures printed on canvas
Submit your pictures of any genre. We will curate, print, frame, and display at The Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath on 23rd and 24th August. Participation is exclusively for members and you get to take your framed canvas print after the exhibition

 ‘CKP Through Your Lens’

23 & 24 Aug, 11am – 5pm: On The Spot Shoot, Share & Win
Running alongside the exhibition is an on-the-spot photo contest titled ‘CKP Through Your Lens’, held every hour from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM on both days. Bring your cameras or just shoot with your phone, share your pictures and stand to win prizes through the day!

Pole to Pole

Presentation | Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath |10 August @ 3 pm

Slideshow and talk by Dr Ajit Huilgol

On the occasion of World Photography Day celebrations, we bring to you an unique presentation from the North and South Poles of our world!

Dr Ajit Huilgol has been one of the fortunate few to have visited both the Antarctic (twice!), and the Arctic. These are some of the remotest, coldest, costliest, and most challenging trips that one can undertake. He shall be taking us with him on a virtual tour of these places, showing us some stunning images of the landscapes, and of the various birds and mammals that inhabit these remote areas of the world. He will talk about some of the similarities of these polar adventures, and of the many dissimilarities as well.  We will also learn about how to get there, of the hardships of life on a ship, and the challenges of photographing from a zodiac. The presentation will also include details of the cost involved, the number of days that you will need to spend there, and on how to get to these far-flung places. So, come and join in an adventure of a lifetime. You won’t regret it!
