YPS Frames 2024 – Square It Up

August 19 is celebrated as World Photography Day to toast the creativity and nuances of photography that have captivated us for years. The day traces its origins to 1837 when the first-ever photographic process, the ‘Daguerreotype’ was developed by the Frenchmen Louis Daguerre and Joseph Nicephore Niepce 

YPS has been celebrating this day with member exhibition combined with various activities.  This year, on 10th and 11th August, we bring:

  • 10 & 11 Aug, 11am-6pm : ‘FRAMES 2024 – Square It Up’ Exhibition of Member’s pictures printed on canvas
  • 10 Aug, 3pm : ‘from Pole to Pole’ Presentation by Dr Ajit Huilgol
  • 11 Aug, 11am – 6pm : ‘FoodFotografi’, an interactive session – On The Spot Shoot, Share & Win 
Submission of pictures, exclusively for Members.

FRAMES 2024 – Square It Up

For the first time pictures will be printed on canvas, in a 20 x 20 inch format,  framed and exhibited at the Devaraj Urs Gallery at The Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath. Get your creative juices flowing and submit your signature pictures for the world to see!

About the Presenter: Dr Ajit Huilgol

Dr Ajit K Huilgol Profile Picture

Dr Ajit K Huilgol is a multifaceted individual, and wears many hats.

He is a kidney transplant surgeon based in Bangalore, and has been doing kidney transplants in this city since the very first successful transplant in Karnataka in 1983

Even as a youngster Dr Huilgol was interested in nature and wildlife, but it wasn’t until 2007 when he developed a keen interest in wildlife photography.

In 2008 he received his Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society. In 2009 he received the Runner-up Award in the prestigious BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year in the Mammals Behavior category. His images and articles have appeared in many magazines and books. He is a very sought-after speaker on topics ranging from travels to post-processing. 

He joined YPS in Nov, 2020 and with the help of senior members, has been participating in various national and international salons. He has won over 400 awards, and over 4000 acceptances in this short time.
